Hello iboats....this may seem like an odd request for help, but I'd like to throw this out there to see what kind of responses I get.

I have oysters growing in floating bags in front of my house and they tend to get a bit muddy after a few days. I want to build a small stitch and glue boat that is designed to make a larger than normal wake to agitate the bags when I cruise by them.

I have an old johnson 15 that I can put on it, but I was wondering what kind of design would create large wake. I'd assume something that would be deep in the stern and maybe has the prop mounted as if it were trimmed high? Any ideas? Thanks!

would be cheaper and easier to take your 15hp johnyrude and mount to your dock or a tender tied to the dock to move water.

creating a large wake close to shore is illegal in many areas

additionally, most wake board boats have 300hp or more and have ballast tanks and pumps to get a desired wake

your idea of Large Waves close to the Shoreline might destroy the Nesting Areas of many Species of Birds. For that reason alone, I know my country is looking at passing Laws to prevent Wakeboard Boats being operated closer than 5 miles from any Shoreline. Really Needed and long Overdue

I would love to see wake boats summarily outlawed, unless say, "open sea." Or maybe way out in the "Great Lakes." We had a guy up here on the river BOUNCED OFF HIS DOCK and broke his leg because of one

Thanks for the replies. I'm not looking to create a huge wake really, just enough to have the white water crash over the bags and agitate the oysters. There are no wake laws where I live and honestly they probably wouldn't be any bigger than larger boats cruising wake. I just want the immediate roll of it 5 ft from the boat. Also, when the wake hits the bags, it basically kills off the large waves so there is really no effect on the shoreline. Im very aware of protecting nesting areas and if you were to see where I was doing this, your minds would be at ease!

Weigh a v bow jon boat down to it's max capacity with you in it. Then before it goes on plane it will plant the stern and really make a wake.
