Re: brand new regal, 5 problems already
Here is my email to Regal this weekend. Of course, no response from them.
To whom it may concern:
I just completed a NMMA survey on my recent purchase of a Regal 24 Fasdeck. As for the dealer, they got a glowing survey from me as they have represented themselves as a stellar organization. As for Regal, I gave the company near zero in most major categories for the following problems I have encountered in the first 2 months of ownership:
1. Loose tensioner pulley on the main drive belt. Result was having to be towed back in to the marina because the motor went into guardian mode.
2. Faulty GPS #1 - the software card was changed out.
3. Faulty GPS #2 - the entire unit was changed out.
4. Audible alarm on the Merc Monitor, but no codes for the user. Upon hooking up to the dealer laptop, it was low oil pressure. Also, leaking oil in the interior of the engine compartment was found and had to be cleaned out.
5. All bolts around the swim platform are rusting leaving stains on the swim platform. Should have been sealed.
6. A small crack in the swim platform as a result from the manufacturer applying too much torque to one of the bolts holding the ladder.
7. In the direct sunlight I can see the word "WET" was written during the gel coat application on the starboard side. Apparently this was never sanded out.
8. The electrical connections for the power tower were not installed in a manner that they would hold together. This resulted in the tower being stuck in the down position this past week until I personally tore the boat apart and corrected the issue.
9. The frame around the door that goes undernearth the helm was not cut right, then someone installed it to the point that it is not flush with the surrounding fiberglass, creating an eyesore.
All in all, I have told 27 people now that have asked me about my boat on the water every one of these problems and that they should avoid Regal at all cost's. Further, I have over 3000 views on my boating forum detailing out all of the problems and recommending people avoid Regal as well.
Regal has zero quality control and should not be considered one of the top brands. In my opinion, it has been one of the poorest investments I have made in 40 years. My Regal boat is truly a piece of junk.
My next step will be with the national boater advocacy group. I am anxious to tell them the horror story of my first 2 months of owning a Regal.
I hope more people will speak up and give honest criticism of companies like yours. You would never last building cars as the consumer would demand a quality product.
