Re: Bowl Games

Still waiting for the Toilet Bowl..........
I thought that was the bowl we played in...The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl!

The sad thing is that UCLA probably lost money on the bowl. Schools have to guarantee a certain amount of ticket sales so in this case, UCLA ate a lot of tickets and the TV money didn't nake up for that and the travel costs.

Re: Bowl Games

Twas the night of the Orange Bowl and throughout the nation
We were the underdogs on every TV and Radio Station ESPN said we couldn't win, Clemson would destroy us in the end
Said our guys weren't so great,
but one didn't know West Virginia was a state ...
The fans were nestled all snug in the stands Clapping along... with the Mountaineer band
With ma in he...r jammies and I in my WVU cap We settled in for the game, a bowl of chips in my lap
When out on the field there arose such a clatter I turned up the sound to see what was the matter
Touchdown after Touchdown after Touchdown they scored 10 in all for a 70 score
The QB in charge was so lively and quick I knew in a moment it was Geno Smith
More rapid than eagles his passes they came,
Then he pointed and scrambled and call them by name Now Austin! Now Bailey! Now Buie and Alston! On Cook! On Brown! On Milhouse and Irvin!
Tightrope the side lines and reach for that score, We make history tonight, no ones done it before!
The coach praised his players, the fans stayed for hours, Dana still wet from his Gatorade shower.
He turned with a jerk, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, as he strode out of sight,
"The couches are burning in Mo-town tonight!"

I love the poem grannyd. I honestly thought going into that game that it was going to be close. Geno and company put on an offensive clinic in that game and the defence did a great job containing Clemsons offense. I love it when all the "experts" pick WVU to lose. Seems like every time that happens, WVU plays with more heart and fire. Great game.
LETS GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!

btw, WVU just scored again!!

Re: Bowl Games

I must confess...Not my poem. Took it from some (several) old schoolmates who had it posted on Facebook. I don't know whee it came from.

Can you repeat the lines Don added on iboats?

I really like "happy where I'm at..... and very proud of where I'm from" that about sums it up for me too.

We can swap hillbilly jokes. Some of my favorite jokes are about hillbillies and blondes. (I'm both) It's like family....we
can poke fun at each other, but please no guff from outsiders.

Never gonna let him go.

Halftime - 'Bama 9 LSU 0

It's been all Alabama, so far. They march down the field, but just can't seem to get the ball across the goal line. They're Letting LSU hang in there even tho they only have 1 first down, I believe....... Still is anybody's game.

Sasto, don't forget the seafood on ice........;)

I only watched the second half. Looked like LSU gave up. Pretty boring as expected.

Re: Bowl Games

Never in it? That's a bit harsh. All Bama had were Field Goals until about mid 4th quarter. At 15-0, giving up 5 fg's, I'd say a team is still in it only down by 2 scores. That Bama defense won fire tonight though. Also, LSU's #1 receiver went out early in the game or it might have been a different story. Either way, there's really no doubt who the #1 team was out there. Bama deserved that game for sure! They dominated defensively.

They only crossed the 50 yard line once and got pushed back over it the next play. I would say that qualifies as never in it.

Interesting that Miles thinks the AP should still vote LSU as the number 1 team. Not sure how he can think that after the egg his team layed out there.

TV executives were predicting this would be the lowest-rated BCS title game ever. It came less than a week after the Clemson-West Virginia Orange Bowl was the lowest-rated BCS bowl of all time.
