Tbar, Try still pond. It is near where the elk river meets the bay.
You can look it up on activecaptain.com. That is a neat site.
It is just a google map, with points of interest on it, that will tell you what is in the area, boating wise.

So, what's everyone's weekend plans? Anyone else going to make it out. A group of us over on Facebook and planning a raft up at Lloyd's creek this weekend, all are welcome :D

Rob, Scott has been waning you to check-in over there, although I know that's not your thing as much.

Going to give the canvas guys a call today to start getting a quote for the new boat. Curious to see what that's going to cost me!

My plan was to read the rest of your surprise boat saga darn it! I know it has a happy ending but otherwise, we're still at "engine is broke, Christina is pissed". Get on with it already! :p

Hell Blue Crabber is my new hero any guy that buys a boat that size without his wife knowing? Then not even telling her before hand and just taking her out on the break down cruise ( first cruise of the season) and he is still married. I am taking notes on this marriage. This would be me if I purchased a boat like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyduncFpzl4

I need a good Johnny outboard mechanic. My 1996 150hp SLEDB is clunking like crazy in reverse. I checked the linkage and I think it is out of adjustment but I rather someone that knows what there are doing take a look. She runs great in forward and no noise at all in forward. When I backed it out from the Dock this weekend she didnt sound so great. Anyone know of a good place to take a clunking OMC?

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

It looks like I'm going to be spending Memorial Day Weekend in and around Hack's Point Marina in Chesapeake City. Any recommendations for good places to hang out? Good places to tow the kids around on the tube?

Here's a couple questions.... In NJ, where I'm from, kids 12 and under are required to wear a PFD while uderway. Is the law the same in MD? Also in NJ, they require you fly an orange flag when towing a skier/tube/whatever... Is there any such law in MD?

Thanks. Also, if anyone is in the area that weekend, I'll be listening on the VHF... Just call "Lottie-Da"

Since Arks did a nice job of describing where to tube and hang out on the Bohemia. The only thing I can add is the Chesapeake Inn on the C and D canal. Also on the Sassafrass there is The Granary, I have not been here, but have heard good reports.

Still waiting for the end to the BlueCrabber story. I keep comming back to check only to find no update. Can someone that knows him give him a call and tell him to finish the story for the rest of us? Some of us have no life and have to live through others. He cant leave us hang like this...:D

I was just thinking the same thing. If we cant be on our boats, at least we can read about someone else on their boat dealing with all the issues we wish we were dealing with.:D

Come on, I need to hear how this worked out!

I saw him for a few minutes today just before their departure for Lloyds Creek (aboard "Empty Pockets" BTW).
I'll just say that they've had a busy week, and he promises an update and pics ASAP.

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

So yesterday I went out to Hart-Miller Island on the Sailboat. And We actually swam in the water. It was cold, but not crazy cold. We walked about a quarter mile thru 4 ft deep water, onto the state park there. So swimming season is here now!

The water temp was 75, according to my fishfinder, I wonder how it knows, since I am using a shoot thru hull style transducer, It is not actually touching the water.

The wind was AWESOME yesterday, prob the best I have seen since in 2 years. It was prob blowing 20 mph.

A shoot thru the hull transducer can still measure the temp of the water by measuring the temp of your hull. In THEORY, the temp of you hull should be about the same temp as the water since it is sitting in it all the time. There might be a slight difference, but it should be minimal.

Your readings do sound about right though, as a few of the boats at our raft up in Lloyds creek over the weekend were reading between 72 and 75 degrees. I was in the water myself for quite awhile Saturday. You are right, swimming time is here!! :D
