Always listen to the higher power. If (the higher power) it didn't want you looking at boats to buy it wouldn't have given your cell phone reception... never forget that!

Some thing I do that helps get me through the winter is to go for a drive on a rural road and set the cruz control as low as it will go, put some nice tunes on and just cruz out for awhile. :D its sort of like boating

This thread cracks me up! lol Its really not an addiction until you have moved out the furniture and started to bring parts into your home to restore over winter so they will be ready for spring. Don't ask how I know. The fiberglass fumes can get pretty bad. also the dust.

Re: Boataholic? boat addiction?

i currently have 2 boats and my girl said she would be ok with a 3rd, i need a medium sized boat, each boat has a different application, in order to save the most gas, i would actually recommend having 3 boats. if you only have one big boat, over the course of a couple years you could literally spend thousands and thousands on gas... meaning that a medium sized boat would be basically free! then if you have a smaller boat, that will save more gas than the medium boat, being the boat you can take anywhere on longer trips and such.

so if people are telling you that you only need one boat, and that you have an addiction to your boat, then really all they are saying is that THEY ARE NOT PITCHING IN FOR GAS,.... only take them on the little boat

Re: Boataholic? boat addiction?

CoolBri - Great thread and I'm right there with you.

I have 2 nice Tinny boats, a 14' fishing boat and a 21' CC family boat, also have 7 or 8 outboards. Less than 3K invested all totaled, but a bit of sweat equity.

Everyday I'm checking CL for another great deal. My wife has learned to just give me that look any time I show her another boat. Love boats and working on them, I have many small projects lined up on the boats when it warms up a little, can't wait to get on the water in April or May. Until then I'll keep looking around for another great deal and posting here. Yes, I stay up too late looking at threads.

Just today I sold my trailer and some hardware off a FG boat that was no longer water safe. Used that boat for 8 years and have made more money parting it out than what I paid for it. I was hoping to keep the trailer for my next project but he paid top dollar for a nice Gator trailer. So now I'll be looking for a boat with a trailer.

You know there are much worse addictions.

Re: Boataholic? boat addiction?

I am starting to get boating fever. Usually go boating in March around here. We haven't been able to go boating since September because of low water levels. Waters back up some, so March is looking good if warm weather is on time. Been a relatively mild winter so far.
