Thoughts and feedback on my painting plan for my aluminum boat?

Base coat: Interlux interprotect 2002e
Primer coat: Interlux Pre-kote
Tip coat finish: Interlux brightside

Now the boat will be trailered mostly. The longest the boat will remain in the water is a 1-3 days. It was too expensive and couldn't source a 2-part polyurethane "Interlux perfection" less than $250 USD for a half gallon. I'm not opposed to a anti-fouling paint but is it necessary, given the application of use? Im wanting to ensure the paint lasts and doesn't chip away easily. Is the combination chosen ok? I will be stripping the existing paint to bare aluminum as I have no idea what paint was applied before and it is crazed, chipped badly and this is my 10 year boat.

Advice is totally appreciated.

so you didnt check the sticky on urethane paint and hardener for under $100?

you missed the most important step. since you are bringing the boat to bare aluminum, you need a good etching compound like alodine and a good zinc dichromate primer.

So the directions indicate that:

Epoxy Primer (2000e or 2002e):

Application method – Bare aluminum 1. Within two hours of sandblasting or grinding apply one thinned coat of InterProtect 2000E directly to the bare aluminum. Use thinner 2316N or 2333N, up to 15% by volume. 2. Apply 3 full coats of InterProtect 2000E by means of brush, roll or spraying. 3. Depending on substrate temperature, allow the final coat of InterProtect 2000E/2001E to dry 3 to 7 hours (test cure by using the “Thumb Print” test) and immediately apply the first coat of Trilux® 33, Pacifica® Plus or Micron® CF.

I get that a self etch is to be used albeit does this product not negate the use of a SE primer?

Epoxy is a mechanical bond, etch primer is a chemical bond I would call the company and make sure their product application is suitable for marine environment
