Boat not planing

Hi i have a problem putting my 14ft open buccaneer boat on plane since i recently fitted a 6hp suzuki 4 stroke auxiliary outboard..main outboard is a 25hp 2stroke yamaha..
I put both 25lts fuel tanks in front instead of the back due to weight distribution..
To be honest I feel safer since i have the auxiliary but the thing that its not planing its really bothering me.
I only managed to get it on plane when i run both of them at the same time
With the 25hp on 3/4 of the throttle and 1/2 throttle on the 6hp
My question is it safe to run them both together?

It won't plane with the 6. You need to change the prop to a "sailboat prop" that will allow a little motor to run a big boat and still maintain the proper rpm specification.

Same thing with the 25. It should plane the boat gangbusters, but you have to have the correct prop to maintain proper rpms.

You need tachs.

Running 2 outboards at the same time is an accident waiting to happen.

When you added the extra weight of the 6, you changed the balance, thus your existing 25 prop is not the right one.

Is there too much weight in the front? The 25 may not be able to lift the bow if the bow is too heavy.
You may actually do better with both tanks in the rear. Try it.

Also you could replace the kicker tank with smaller tank, or only put a gallon or two in that tank.

Or just use the kicker’s’ internal tank.

Your kicker only weighs 54#.

So, lose the excess fuel, move the main tank to midship or the stern, possibly drop the pitch on the prop by 1”, or go on a diet. 😧

I have never seen a boat refuse to plane because of a 25 liter Portable tank being added to the Bow area, in most cases it improved the ability to get on Plane.
The added weight of the Kicker is about the weight of 2 full 25 liter tanks
Are you trying to plane the boat with the Kicker up or down?

Kicker motor tilted up when running the boat...that 25 hp should plane with no issues. Move the weight around until the right balance is found. Not only finding the right prop, but also the right trim ....You can start by putting a straight edge along the boat bottom sticking out to the motor cav plate. Start with cav plate parallel to the bottom of the boat. Run it with proper weight balance in place, you can then fine tune your trim in or out slightly for best performance.

Well I have.
I guess you just haven't seen everything in this world.
I've also had to move an 80# kid from the bow seat to the middle seat.

If the bow is nose down, the motor may not have the power to push it up.

Something seems a little off to me. The boat used to plane just fine before you mounted the additional motor, correct? I think 25HP is max on that boat. Right?

Is it just you on board?

Yes when i mounted the aux motor its just not planing
I tried alone and with a guy in front same result..
Max is 32hp as i have on the plate from the manufacturer

If it were me: I would pull the aux motor off, load up like normal and take the boat for a ride.

IF the boat planes easily, then it likely has something to do with the aux motor.

IF the boat struggles to get on plane, but does plane, then it's likely a power issue (either too little HP on the boat, or the 25HP isn't running correctly).

IF the boat doesn't plane at all, then you know you have an issue that's unrelated to the aux motor.

I does plane well without the aux so the problem is maybe the weight of the aux ...
The only thing i notice is when i try to plane it with the aux on the bracket the boat get sky high and never plane with the 25hp

Even moving weight around wont make it plane out with the 25 ??? Hard to believe !! Unless your 6 is one heavy motor !!

Suzuki 6 should be between 50 and 60lbs. If I read right on the Buccaneer, max capacity is 800lbs, so i suppose there's a chance with two good size guys, gas, lunch, gear and the aux motor you're just overloaded.

The Suzuki is 52lbs
The thing is even only myself on the boat wont plane with the kicker on that whats really is confusing for me

Is the kicker dragging in the water on takeoff? That drag could also have an effect. When you go on plane, is the bow riding high in the sky or does it barely come out of the water? That would be an indication of weight distribution.

I would start out with trim angle and then prop pitch. Then play around with weight distribution.

I've been following this thread and curiosity bit so I googled a 14 ft buccaneer and it made me wonder. I can't see how to find room for a kicker. That's a small boat to hang 2 motors on..can you offer a picture?
