Re: Boat Names

Just got my first boat, a 1989 Bayliner Capri and since Im a bartender am trying to incorporate that into the boats name without being too obvious. So far Ive come up with:

Bottoms Up
On The Rocks
Rum Runner
Last Call
and
Intoxicologist

Which ones do you like the best?

I like bottoms up....

how about

Re: Boat Names

My boat is called "Who Knows-Who Cares" as long as it's not the Titanic, Britania, or the Olimpia it is unimportant, as they all sunk.

Re: Boat Names

My 98 Larson Hampton should be named "Headache" but being from the South we named her: "Sea Y'all"

Re: Boat Names

My old boat was named after my daughter: "Kylie's Dream". She loved going out in it.

My new (post divorce) boat I haven't decided on a name yet but am leaning towards: "Starting Over".

Re: Boat Names

I just bought an older 28 Ft Chris Craft Express which is in mechanically good shape but needs renovation. The boat I've got to sell is a, now reliable, IMP X190 that I have been working on for a couple of years and is named "Blood, Sweat and Beers" which fairly well describes the knuckle busting hours spent fixing her up. My wife is from Georgia and has decided that the Chris Craft should be named "Fix'n II"

I considered naming the Chris Craft "Where's My Dinghy" and its dinghy "Dinghy Blond" but the Admiral squelched those ideas. ;-)

Re: Boat Names

Our 16' Starcraft (1976) boat is still without a name after over a year.....but we have settled on TWO possibilties. Any thoughts or votes appreciated...
First options was "Disco Duck" since the boat was made in 1976 and that is the year we and the wife met....(planned on putting pics of Donald and Daisy Duck dancing on it)

However my mother, who passed away last August had a saying that I took to heart
" There are no re-runs in life" when we discussed buying a boat and camper now rather than later.... so another possibilty is "NO RE-RUNS"

?????????

Re: Boat Names

Our boat is currently named "GEMINI II" (PPO couple were both Geminis) but we will be renaming her on her first launch following restoration (gotta do it right and appease the gods). My son is autistic and VERY awkward socially EXCEPT when he's on the water, he has a couple of friends that are the same way, so the boats new name will be "SOCIAL THERAPY".

Re: Boat Names

Just had our first successful outting on the new boat. I would like to know what the deal is with the name, or not having a name. I saw a few people that dont have a name, but I thought that was bad Ju-Ju or something. Still trying to think of a name for her..... Maybe "S.S. Too Tall". But I would like something that includes the lady. Maybe "Expensive Vacation".....

Re: Boat Names

Too Tall... Welcome to iBoats!! CONGRATS on the successful outing, hope you have MANY more!
Ask 100 boaters about the need for a name, and you'll get a 100 opinions. IMHO it's a personal preference thing, HOWEVER, when I change the name on our boat when we launch her following repairs, it will be done according to the process I've been told about which includes a champagne offering to Poseidon, and several other pertinent gods, and a few other 'rules' of the water. I'm not terribly superstitious, but, I don't think it's worth taking any unnecessary chances either :)
