Maybe I'm nuts, but plan to buy a boat for small money just because I want the motor. 12' glass boat with no title I want rid of. Suggestions?

Here where I live, a bill of sale is enough to register a boat. So, I would start by trying to sell the hull.

If it had to be trashed, I can drop one off for about $150 ... or cut it up into pieces that will fit in the back of the truck and drop it off for about $25.

Not crazy at all.

I'd take an angle grinder and cutoff wheel, chop it into pieces that would fit in my pickup truck and haul it to the County recycling center. I could drop it in their oversize waste pile for about $10 based on estimated weight.

I have cut up boats with a sawzall, and tossed pieces in the garbage can over a period of a month. I have also loaded up the parts and taken to the local land fill

Thanks for the ideas boat bros. Man that video cracked me up! Nice work.

So I have an angle grinder and a sawzall. I'm guessing the sawzall will be the weapon of choice If I have to cut it up? If it cuts up easy enough I'll just drag the pieces to the curb. Is this a dust mask job or full respirator territory?

Attaching pic of the turd boat. Thing is it's out of state with a lost title. It could literally take mos to get a title for it, IF the state goes along with it. I just did this with an in state boat. Several police inspections, going on 2 mos, and still waiting for the actual title.

Rough guess at what this thing weighs? I'm thinking 300 lbs maybe?

My 14' Lund V-hull weighs 295 pounds empty. 300 is probably a bit low for a fiberglass boat that size?

FG fibers require a full respirator. Nasty stuff. Don't come back in 30 years and cry you have lung cancer.

The simple answer is to pay to take it to the dump.

The motor cannot possibly be worth all the trouble. This is a hassle if there ever was one.

Seems to me that all the trouble would not be cost effective.

I'm going to see if can find an even bigger fool than I am to buy it for next to nothing, free even. Some cheapskate will likely save me the trouble of disposal I'm thinking.

The trailer is at least worth trying to sell. The boat could be a "freebie" bonus that comes with it.

I'd be glad to give up the trailer or sell it cheap to be done with the boat. Besides getting a running 25HP Johnny Rude which should really make my Mirro fly, it comes with a brand new fuel tank and brand new tires. Prob not worth hassling with cutting up the boat just to get the tires though. Be nice if can dump the boat at the local landfill for small bucks. Can't find out about that until tomorrow.

So cuts pretty easy then? About how thick is the hull? Any other guesses on weight? If I take it to the landfill I suspect they'll charge by the lb. Sure wish the thing had a title. I suspect this is/was a pretty nice rig at one time. Story is guy died, widow gave to friend, titles are lost.

Vermont is an easy way to get a usable title if your state will accept it.. Vermont transfers anything 15 years or older on a BOS and they allow out of state residents to file. It might be worth it so that you can re sale the boat

Interesting. I know of a place called Broadway Titles that will do that for cars, but think it's cars only. It ain't cheap though.

Broadway titles uses the Vermont loophole. You can file the paperwork yourself by mail. Their DMV takes care of boats so it’ll work
