Boat and trailer Registration NY

I live in NY, Im in the process of buying a boat that comes with trailer and Im a little confused about paper work, this is my understanding
Boat : title and bill of sale and Im go to go
Trailer : ( because doesn’t weigh more that 1k pounds) NO title, bill of sale and transfer registration.
This is when I got confused: on the bill of sale vin area for trailer, the trailer is missing the vin number but he has the transfer registration document which is very similar to this picture . Is that the vin for trailer?

The trailer vin has nothing to do with the boat, or boat registration.
It seems very unlikely that it would appear on the boat registration.

"Some" boats are titled. If so, you need the old title and a bill of sale and you are good to go. Otherwise, if you have a "transferable" registration and a bill of sale its OK. You will pay for the new registration and also a sales tax if it was from a private seller.

Same for the trailer. They key is to have the old registration, signed on the back, transferring it to you.

If the previous owner does not have the title or the registration, walk don't run. The people in the DMV just love to make your life miserable.

Now, someone in here will tell you to have the trailer registered as homemade. BS. You will need bills of sale for steel, rollers, axles and tires. Ask me how I know......LOL.

That's the boat registration, no way would it cost $125.00 to register the trailer. You need that trailer registration with the P.O'.s siggy to register the trailer along with the DMV registration form. You can download that form from their website & fill it out at home. Btw, don't let DMV b.s. you & tell you to get it inspected before it can be registered. They tried that crap with me one time until I told them the registration was expired & I'd get pulled over for sure. Tell the p.o. you need that registration or he can march down to D.M.V. & get it replaced. They'll give him a new one on the spot. Good luck.

Actually the pic I posted is just something I found online he paid 305 on his boat registration, he has the boat title all cleaned and good to go, and this boat registration paper but he didn’t get me any paperwork for trailer that’s where Im confused… I found the vin number on trailer maybe a bill of sale would else help me out ?

I found the VIN number on the trailer!!!!
I do have the title for the boat and boat registration, maybe bill of sale for trailer since now I have the vin number will be a bonus to have everything in order? I now I read about homemade trailer…. Lol big pain

hommade trailer isn't a big deal in NY. DMV office will know what to do. They are common as titled trailers

A signed bill of sale would certainly help along with the price, vin #, date etc. DMV should be able to look up the weight of the trailer by vin #. You'll get a break on reg. fee because there's only 4 months left in the year.
