I heard about some funny things that go on down there but lie detectors tests for fish???

Around here, it's pretty common knowledge that dead fish tell no lies.....lol

Now that I can believe. It sounds more like what I usually do... But in my book even a sorry day of fishing is better then a great day at work... :fish2:

E-mail your photos to your home computer and then you can post them thru photo bucket or what ever you use for photos.

Thanks bonz_d. I tried it with the handles up and it does seem to cast farther and more straight.

There's no magic involved, you just have to learn to load the rod and practice your release point.

Yeup, no magic. Though some technics are easier to learn than others and the quality of the reel does make a difference.

I tried to send photos to a computer but it wouldn't send. My phone is a pay as I go and doesn't seem to have that feature. I'm cheap! I've been using my curado that I got on Ebay and it's been working great! It has fairly heavy line on it and that seems to help. Plus the spinner bait is pretty heavy.

Your right gm280. Even though I didn't catch fish I still had fun just running the boat around.

I didnt read the entire thread but using the right weight bait for the rod rating is the MOST important thing in good casting.

For those of you that want to learn how to setup and cast a bait casting outfit, visit BassResource.com. Gene Jenson as an excellent series of video's on the subject. Enjoy, Dave

Re: Bait casting help needed

Again I have a Bass Pro Shop Crankin Stick that will throw 1/16oz to 1/2 oz lures like there is no tomorrow, A 6" rubber worm with no weight casts as well as my medium rod with a 1/4 oz spinner on it.

It's all in the technic and knowing what the tackle being used will do.

For a beginner I still reccommend starting with an overhand cast with the reel handles pointing up towards the sky. Also loosen the magnets and learn to feather the spool!

And no I did not watch any of the videos!

+1.....Technique will only get you so far. Proper tackle (rod and reel) and reel tuning will make or break you after that.

Landing big fish on light tackle is skill. Not a product of tackle selection

no arguement here. I've landed many a large fish on UL tackle using only 4 lb test line and no net!

The biggest Northern I ever caught was on a UL. Was casting around a small crank bait in Canada and landed a 16#....... My line was zinging all over the place. What a blast.....

I know the feeling. 6' UL with 4lb PLine Floroclear on a small jig spinner. Fortuneately I was able to keep him out of the thick weeds.
