Well if you tilt fifty percent to the left, then tilt fifty percent to the right, that puts you where you need to be in the center, works for me.

Now if we could just get the media to do that... :p

My $.02: and report all the actual news don't edit out the bad news that may hurt the Libs' point of view or the good news that may advance the Conservative point of view. Just report all the news and let us decide what we think! The editing is the biggest problem. JR

Hey Bro Haut, Never claimed to be impartial. Don't like editing, (content), as that is how the left leaning news people have always done it. Even a sharp witted Liberal as you can't like it too well when the press downplays the identification of the followers of the Religion o' Peace when they shoot Jews in Seattle, or use their cars/SUVs to run over inocents elsewhere. If you are honest with me: you can't like that very much either. Information is power, knowledge of history is as well. Don't want to try to read that sharp mind o' yours, but I bet you don't mind letting out information, and letting the chips fall where they land. Eh Bro Haut? JR

Only a liberal could deny the liberal bias. I have posted several sites over the years pointing to the left leaning tendancies of the major media. Independant sources including the UCLA study. Name one Conservative journalist on CBS, NBC or at the NYTimes editorial staff.

Kool-Aid all around. Liberal treat.

I could give a rats arse about what the Fench or other socialistic governements fabricate about the US. Join the UN and get your cut of the blood money from Kofi's family members.

Pointer.... notice no one tried to counter the study done by Tim Groseclose, Department of Political Science,UCLA. and Jeff Milyo, Department of Economics,University of Missouri.

That is the only STUDY, done by accredited professionals that I could find... all else was opinion.

Yet none of the Libs even gave it a glance.

This is my favorite...

In this paper we estimate ADA (Americans for Democratic Action) scores for major media outlets such as the New York Times, USA Today, Fox News’ Special Report, and all three network television news shows. Our estimates allow us to answer such questions as “Is the average article in the New York Times more liberal than the average speech by Tom Daschle?” or “Is the average story on Fox News more conservative than the average speech by Bill Frist?” To compute our measure, we count the times that a media outlet cites various think tanks and other policy groups. We compare this with the times that members of Congress cite the same think tanks in their speeches on the floor of the House and Senate. By comparing the citation patterns we construct an ADA score. As a simplified example, imagine that there were only two think tanks, one liberal and one conservative. Suppose that the New York Times cited the liberal think tank twice as often as the conservative one. Our method asks: What is the typical ADA score of members of Congress who exhibit the same frequency (2:1) in their speeches? This is the score that we would assign to the New York Times. Our results show a strong liberal bias. All of the news outlets except Fox News’ Special Report and the Washington Times received a score to the left of the average member of Congress. Consistent with many conservative critics, CBS Evening News and the New York Times received a score far left of center. Outlets such as the Washington Post, USA Today, NPR’s Morning Edition, NBC’s Nightly News and ABC’s World News Tonight were moderately left. The most centrist outlets (but still left-leaning) by our measure were the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, CNN’s NewsNight with Aaron Brown, and ABC’s Good Morning America. Fox News’ Special Report, while right of center, was closer to the center than any of the three major networks’ evening news broadcasts. All of our findings refer strictly to the news stories of the outlets. That is, we omitted editorials, book reviews, and letters to the editor from our sample.

Re: American Discord: Were being laughed at

I guess I look at it like this.

Nancy Pelosi
Main stream press over airplane thing.
Doesn't matter if they think she is right or wrong.

If she is
Nancy Pelosi the (D)
It is a non-story and nothing to write about.

If she were
Nancy Pelosi the (R)
It would have been on all the main networks day and night.

Thats where I see the (Left Leaning) bias of mainstream news.

I know thats pretty simple compared to this conversation.

Just my .02 from what I see.

Self edit to add:

This is first hand from me.
Another example is the other day during LT. Watada's trial.
Channels four five and seven. And even the traffic reports.

Said there was a slow down because of all the Watada supporters demonstrating along I5 at Ft Lewis.
They did not say this, but made it sound like hundreds.
That was it.

btw there was a slow down on I5 at Ft Lewis. That part was true.

What they did not say.
And we saw this on the news and were hearing it on the radio
while driving out to Ft Lewis.

There were about 50 supporters for Lt Watada.
Against Watada, flag waving supporting the military
over 2-1 100-125 + people.

Now these are facts I have seen/heard that are current.

Re: American Discord: Were being laughed at

I don't know, I saw the pelosi thing on the NBC news last night, the info didn't seem any different than any other source. I'll admit that when I watch the news, I take it with a grain of salt. In my mind, the news is about getting ratings, which equals profit, so they are going to report in a fashion that produces the most yield. It may be left leaning now, but if profit means leaning to the right a few years from now, you can bet that is what they will do. Its all about the money, and since we are all good capitolists, how can you fault them for just trying to make money? I would think all the lib hater/proper capitolist folks here would be applauding Big News for making a buck, just like the oil companies. After all, Big news makes their money without tapping us in the back door, that makes them even more enviable than Big Oil, which plunders our nether reagions daily....

You have to look at the format. The internet has created a field of anonimity where people can come on and basically insult everyone in their path in the quest to force their view onto others. There are some on this very forum that, despite having been here two minutes, have somehow crowned themselves the kings of all knowledge, and they continue to insult with impunity. Sometimes I am surprised to see that the mods allow some of this, but I wonder if the mods are not always functioning with impartiality. In anotherwords, it looks like certain people say whatever they want while the Big Guns look the other way. Maybe the mods are catching the really bad stuff before I ever see it and they are just barely keeping up. Hard to tell. All I know is that to the outside world, this forum represents Iboats, and what business would want this as it's representative?

I am often surprised that Iboats allows this forum to continue. I can't even imagine how many people come here and make the mistake of coming down here to "the basement" and move on. The only thing I can say on that front is if I ran this site DC would have disappeared a long time ago. I can't find anything good for business about DC. "Want to buy a new boat seat and be insulted for not sharing the majority view, come to Iboats". There are a million sites where people can voice their hate and bigotry, it isn't needed here. It taints an otherwise great place to come for information. The truely smart and lucky ones are the ones that never come to DC, and Lord knows I regret having ever come to this section. Can't say I will be staying around much longer anyway, the negativity on this site is exhausting.

I can own my share, no one is telling me to come here. I guess I come to DC hoping to find a discussion on something besides hateful insult disguised as "political debate", but I am continually disappointed. It is always the same people, insulting the same other people, and none of them with any more credibility or knowledge than those they insult. It doesn't even matter what the subject is. You can put a post on about grape jelly, and within three posts it will morph to communist inferior libs forcing Government Jelly on good God-fearing conservatives. What's the point?

I remember a time when the serious debates involved Amsoil or Foam. Now, its self-perceived superiority with Politics as it's vehicle. I sure miss the good ol' days...

Re: American Discord: Were being laughed at

I guess if you can't engage in critical thinking and debate your own ideas then you can't feel good; is that it? That's what usually happens when a position based on "feelings" interacts with logic, history, and common sense. Label what you can't overcome with polite discourse: Hate, Insults, and if that does not work then CENSURE IT. Just like the universities do. I'm sorry both of you want iboats to shut this forum down, as I for one: do enjoy it. But I've only been here for two minutes. JR ps I guess I should be thankfull that you didn't tell me I was a BAD Christian n' all

We have always been "laughed at".
If being "laughed at" sways one's course, one deserves the laughter.

Giuliani: Not confident of turnaround in Iraq
LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Former New York mayor and presidential contender Rudolph Giuliani said Wednesday he is not sure the tide will turn in the war in Iraq, as President Bush has predicted.

"I'm not confident it's all going to turn around," Giuliani told CNN's "Larry King Live." "Who knows that? I mean, you never know that in the middle of the war. I'm confident that we have to try to make a turnaround and we just can't walk out.

"And that it is critical to us that things get to the point in Iraq that we have some degree of stability and not the way they are now, because if we leave it the way it is now and we run out, then we're going to face further difficulties in the future."

Earlier this month, Giuliani filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission. In November, he filed paperwork setting up an exploratory committee. But he confirmed it Wednesday, telling King, "Yes, I'm running. ... I think I can make a difference. I believe that the country needs leadership." (Posted 5:31 p.m. )

Look at the Headline, (which is all most do) then look at what was really said.... anyone still want to debate the bias of the Clinton News Network?
