Thanks, I have been leaning that way too. It adds something to it even though there is no other black or champagne anywhere else. It has proven tough to find but I guess I can just go to a pinstriper or auto body supply shop and take a looksie.

Upcoming pics from my brother of the new engine hanging on the Crestliner. Oh Boy is she perdy. Photos are downloading from my phone now.

It seems we didn't do such a good job loading her on the trailer though. We were running an hour late at that time which wound up putting us right in rush hour traffic once we hit long island. If any of you have experienced this NYC traffic you can understand my rush in loading the boat. It took an Additional hour to drive the last 30 miles. Was kind of hoping they would have straightened her out with the dead fall but oh well. She is lying on both bunks.

My brother took some more pics today. It almost made me leave the job I'm on and run up the 4 hrs to see for myself. He is a very neat person and keeps his car and his pontoon boat looking like better than new. Constantly washing and waxing away. I am a "wash my car once a year" guy so I often make fun of him out of jealousy. he wound up polishing the cowl or engine cover whichever you prefer. It looks great. Pics are downloading off my phone as we speak. Oh man does it look right at home. Hang tight for some boat porn.

Ok, here we go. Here is a before shot. I'm not sure if that has some kind of wax on it but it looked shinier than this in my last few pics.

Here it is after he polished it.

I think the light spots are actually a reflection of the sun through our trees. Crazy right? He said it needs some compound on the top and back of the cowl and all he had was the cleaner wax (because he never let's anything of his get to the compound stage lol). More pics in a bit.

Okay, so bear with me with all the pics but I want them in this story. I am blown away by how nice it looks. Here is a shot from the side my brother took to show me his handy work back on the boat.

Here, my brother is just getting artsie. It does show off my handy work polishing the nose piece though.

Here is my all time favorite pic so far. Glad he was in an artsie mood because this shot may very well be my avitar...if I can figure out how to do that. For sure it is going to be my lock screen and home screen pic on my phone. Lol. The only knock is the ring around the collar my boat has. That is from my mad thrashing trying to get the 35 running. I disconnected the fuel line and a bunch of Gas sprayed out and apparently grabbed onto my boat. The boat looks pretty straight here. I guess I did get it right even though it was a rush job...or they did that with the dead fall. I choose to believe the former.😊

Soon, very soon. I think he is waiting on the system check gauge. He called me last week to ask me if I wanted a white or black one so I'm guessing he ordered it right after the call.. My brother said it is 90 percent done. The controller is in, the cables are on, the steering is hooked up. The boat wire harness is laying on the gunnel waiting to be installed.

Looks like my brother will get the first seat time. He said he is going up in 2 weeks. Probably due to the new engine. He offered to compound it and re-polish it while up there which I def. Appreciate. So I have to give him my meguires stuff I bought for the boat this year. I'm sure I'll get some pics and maybe a video but not sure about that. I will surely take a video on my first blast.

I just read through this whole thread and loved every minute of it.
What a spectacular resto you did on this boat.:thumb:
If I can find out somewhere on here what size an avatar can be I can resize that pic for you and also the pic of the boat at sunset that you wanted for an avatar.
I just can't seem to find that size anywhere.................

No Title

I found the size and resized the rear pic and the sunset pic but for some reason it won't let me load the sunset pic.

Thanks for reading through Wolfe. I'm pretty happy with the end result myself. I'll keep tinkering for a few more years with this and that I'm sure. At least everything left can easily be done in the few weeks I seem to give myself each year. That will probably mean I will start working on her the week before we are leaving. Can you say procrastinator. Lol. I am severely techno impaired and am predominantly using my Android tablet because it is the only thing my daughter doesn't consider hers. This complicates things more for the most part. I can't click and copy your photos to my gallery which means I can't paste them into my avatar. I appreciate the effort though and seeing them the right size I think i will go with the sunset. Not much detail on the other for an avatar. Next time I get a moment with the laptop ( wife and daughter asleep at same time) I will attempt to put that photo in. Maybe October or Novemberish

Love your ride. I always loved the lines on Glastrons. Their interiors are also super cool. I am, however a tinner at heart. Much easier in the long run. I have no desire to purposely make myself itchy. Good luck with your boat . With everything on your plate it might take some time but who cares. It's there when you get time or need some alone time to just spin it like a top in the garage (I'm jealous) or sit in her and make engine noises. Your wife and family are in our thoughts and prayers in our little corner of iboats. Thanks for stopping by and keep your head up bud. It is all worth it when you and the family take that first ride together in something you built.😊

Only tinkering for a few more years ???lol I didn't think tinkering ever ended !!!
Maybe you can ask your daughter to do the avatar for you, that way she doesn't have to give up the computer and you get your avatar done !
I have never been into boats but this one looked like a good candidate for a resto so I thought why not.
It'll be a while for sure before it gets done but Mrs. Wolfe and the kids are looking forward to riding in it when completed.
Right now it's nice to get out in the garage and tinker with something, it keeps my mind busy and thank you for the thoughts and prayers. They mean alot to us.
FYI Mrs. Wolfe is responding very well to the chemo so that's a good sign.
Enough of me cluttering up this thread so let's get back to our regularly scheduled program !!!!!

You are welcome to clutter all you want Wolfe. I am playing the waiting game right now. I have nothing boat related going on. I hate not being a bigger part of the engine transplant. I probably won't even get to use it till mid to late August. All who are following along feel free to clutter away. Keep me occupied. It will also keep me from sliding to page 163 on the forum. Lol.

Good news about the chemo. Hopefully it isn't making her feel too sick. I know some it hardly bothers but some it knocks out.
I guess you're right about the tinkering. I am already regretting my decision about not putting in a tach. That might happen this winter. I still have to replace the bunks on my trailer and all the hardware is rusting pretty bad. I am thinking of going all stainless there but I'm not sure if they are strong enough. I also have to figure out how to adjust the bunks to fit my boat better and install a roller for the keel. There is also a bit of rewiring in the boat and i want a new bilge pump with a float switch. If you can believe it, the bilge pump in the boat now is from 77 and going strong. Quiet too. So yeah, I have some tinkering left. I think the trailer is going to be the last minute push next year. Everything else can get done whenever.

Hey Pat did you see the bilge pump and float set up I put in my SS? What a small package and the design of the pump with it's detachable base is easily removed too if need be. Got it from here at iboats, let me know if you want me to post a link to it.

I hate trailer work so I do it first off to get it out of the way otherwise it might just be an after thought or not done at all. The only grade 8 bolts used on my trailer are for the leaf springs, the rest were all 5's. Not sure if SS has any grade ratings but I doubt you would have a problem with using them anywhere but the leaf attachments.

Hey watermann, I don't remember seeing the pump. Post a link if you would bud. I will need to remove the pump occasionally. There is a pine tree above my boat that sheds like a Colley and the needles somehow get in under the one piece cover. The ones I miss with the shop vac make their way to the bilge. My present pump is not bolted down. I have some heavy heater hose I cut to size that keeps it in place within a few inches. When I need to clean her I just grab the pump and pull it onto the deck.

My brother and I were talking and he said he has a prop from his pontoon that didn't work for him. It dropped his mph by 5. It is brand new and it is a 13.5 15. Do you think this is worth shipping up to the lake for the mechanic to test with? The prop on the engine now is a 13.75 13. A good pontoon prop for sure but I'm guessing not for this boat. I was leafing through the box and found this.
