The only gasket that would be different is the head gasket. A lot of people don't bother changing over though.

It is just an alignment tool. I got mine on ebay. You just search mercruiser alignment tool.

Just to add a couple of items...

On pulling the outdrive - make sure the unit is in forward gear when trying to remove.

In addition to taking plenty of pictures, buy a big box of ziplock baggies and some 3x5 index cards. As you take items off, put the nuts, bolts, etc in the baggies and write down on the card where they came from. Easy to do - and keeps things easy to put together later. You will be amazed at how you forget things - even if you do it frequently! Draw little diagrams of the way a linkage is arranged as you go before disassembling.

To add to what Fishermark posted, when you take the parts are put the screw/bolts that go with it together. Also put the parts in the order they came off so you know you forgot something if you go to install something and there is still a part in front of it. I work on laptops a lot for a major manufacturer. My system is to take the parts out as I go and lay them from left to right with the pile of screws. I know that I have to use up the pile of screws and that part before I move one to the next step when reinstalling.
