Well I think it was some guy in South BumF**k, Idaho, that told his sister-in-law in a phone conversation, and the NSA over-heard it.

ken
if killing zaquwri was anything exciteing I would be all over it, the guy ws a two bit religous hoe that only hooked up with osama 4 years or so ago.
while its a good thing a man of his kind is no longer in charge of anything, nothing much will change.
our current admin snafu'd the operation so bad we will never get out. I hope the next generation of military enjoys their 3 year iraqi tour.
does anyone really think any iraqis will ever be trustworthy or able to secure the entire country?
the country is so divided and it was artificially created that there will never be peace . they have killed each other for centuries and most cant tell you why, just its a way of life.
so no I am not a party pooper, I just look at the news, digest it as needed and see if it matters.
for the iraqis this killing is a good thing, the man killed a lot of iraqis but so have some other men.
my question is how did al-queda in iraq sneak through the security force we set up in 03, oh, wait, we failed to secure anything. now we are paying the price for "mistakes" and the mistake maker got a medal instead of a pink slip. and no i am not a democrat. i vote for whoever i consider the best.
so like I say, i suspect nothing will change.
but if you look up the new caspian sea pipline and the proposed afghan pipeline then look at the pipeline course and the afghan
US permmanant military bases you will find major pipeline points just happen to be where the US bases are.
coincedence I reckon.

Reading the responses from the left amoung us here, it is apparent they are not feeling too well today.
Comments like;

"while its a good thing a man of his kind is no longer in charge of anything, nothing much will change."

"but if you look up the new caspian sea pipline and the proposed afghan pipeline then look at the pipeline course and the afghan
US permmanant military bases you will find major pipeline points just happen to be where the US bases are.
coincedence I reckon."
(this next one was so choice, i pretty much had to C&P it in it's ENTIRETY!)

"The President is having a good day but let's not celebrate until we get this thing in control. We have had this whole Iraq thing so screwed up that we needed a little good news but this sure does not get us over the hump.

I wish the President would admit Iraq was a SNAFU, get the heck out and get back to hunting down the terrorist who threaten us. Them folks in that part of the world live to kill each other so why should we put our troops in the middle of their fight."

That speaks volumes!

Then this masterpiece; "That is indeed great news." only to be followed directly in the very same post with this; "Time will tell what it all means. As my kids used to say, on a long trip: "Are we there yet?"

I predict the left will soon throw the charges out there that "our torturing of prisoners to get intel contributed to his 'assasination' "....
Or, " I thought 'assasination' of world leaders was against american law!"and all the rest of the all-too-predictable 'evil american' retoric.
It should be an interesting ride that further alienates the still-sane amoung their party from the murthas.

Something doesn't add up here.
Earlier this week the media were making comments (agains't Bush ofcourse) that we have X number of troops on the ground and spending X number of Dollars and we can't even find "one" guy!

So we got him.

Now they are saying it's just "one" guy!

Score 1 for the good guys.

rodbolt is correct on 1 score. You only have to look at what happened to Yugoslavia after Josip Tito died and the rest of Europe looked the other way so see what would happen in Iraq if we weren't there: just because the Europeans decided to set the borders for Iraq 70 years ago doesn't mean the people who live there actually want it to stay that way. It's going to be a LONG time before all of our boys come back home.

The one thing that saddens me today is the reaction from Michael Berg. I'm so glad that he is NOT my father, he and his son Nick must have had a really crappy relationship.

Kudos to the US military.I'm wondering how long it will be until we hear how unethical it was to post his swollen dead face on the air.Unless some media outlet already has and I missed it.

As for the troops coming home asap,I thought everyone understood that this anti-terrorism mission was a long process. These bottom feeders are scattered all over the planet. If the US and "all" of its so called allied nations had joined in and had their turn at bat, perhaps our troops "would" be coming home sooner than later.

Re: al-Zarqawi

This is my personal opinion.

A Small Terrorist Organisation managed to pull-off an attack on America, the greatest gain to them being publicity, and gain themselves support from a particular group of peoples.

We failed to identify/locate/fix and exterminate this terrorist organisation way back.

It is indeed good news that this Terrorist has been eliminated, so long as we have not given then enough time to establish a Chain of Command and Communication.

We do know they have a vastly superior Intelligence Organisation to ours and no matter how much money we throw at ours it will never equal theirs.

Personally, I hope they are just a rag-tag bunch, and now leaderless, no longer effective, and all wander off back home to live peaceful lives.

But look at it this way. If your Leader, Military or Political, was to die, would your forces dissipate, fall to pieces, and wander off home?

Don't take offence, but I do wonder at times if some of you "do not know your enemy", because "your enemy sure as hull knows you".

Really do hope this is the start of something a lot better than we have known lately.

Cheers
Phillip

12 Feetz, what would you expect anyone with at least some grasp on reality say?

The reality is it is certainly good news. The reality is our troops remain in harm's way, and the outcome of the insurgency, grand Iraqi experiment in democracy, and the stability of the middle east remain in doubt.

I just don't see this as cause to celebrate just yet, until the Iraqi people greet us like the French people did as we liberated France after WW II.

Somehow, that event does not appear to be scheduled yet.

I think it is very unethical for the government to parade pics like that around in front of the media and the whole world to see when we're not even allowed to see OUR OWN dead!!!!! I see a problem with that.
