Grub .. I dont think you read my post correctly ..

I guess Caldwelder had it pegged when he said " another foam debate " ..

Grub .. As you have already said You would NOT use GS to foam fill large projects I dont understand why you are persistent on this thread.

I suggest this thread be closed due to your ignorance and bait tactics .. You are wrong in not only your experience ..but in application and should no longer be posting.

Thank god were just talking about foam and not glass work ..

Im done with this thread .. good luck on your Boat In a Can product sir ..

Going for a week long canoe trip .. talk to you all later :) Peace out..

YD.

WTHeck? I thought we were having a fairly civil discussion here.

YD, if it came down to pool noodles, empty plastic bottles, or GSF and there was nothing else... I'd go with the GSF... but that's probably just because I haven't been brainwashed into hating it before even trying it.

Just curious, was your deck "glassed in" with these holes left in it?
From my observation and experience with certain products what I think the manufacturer's(and not only this boat) were trying to do was use the film that forms when the foam hardens along with a layer of resin over the whole deck and over the foam holes to keep out the water.
You have to remember the manufacturers of boats were told by the foam companies that this foam was waterproof, but what they didn't tell them it was until it was compromised.
It probably worked for a few years then when the resin was there with no csm for structural support and the holes not sealed . The resin would gradually crack with age and begin to seperate from the plywood.

Then the pattern continues and intrusion starts.

If you read most owner manuals in the care and maintenance section they say not to leave your boat out in the weather to get wet and to store in a garage. If this was done any boat would last forever

Cheers Jack
