90 Amp Fuse Question

I am changing my 6.2 MPI starter and noticed that the hot 12v battery lead connects to the solenoid terminals directly, with the 90 amp fuse supplying the smaller red wire that goes to the red circuit breaker on top of the engine. I can’t see this level of detail on the wiring diagrams. Shouldn’t the 90 amp fuse be protecting the large battery wire instead?

It's correct as wired.......
A starter can draw well over 200 Amp at start.

The following is a photo of a 90 amps fuse that is blown via the descriptions...Should be 12.4+ volt power on the left 2 wires too when good.

what you will find is the alt protected by the 90A and also the main power for the but but thats after the 50A CB, blow the 90 and your dead in the water, move the red wire directly to the starters main post and all you can lose is the charge from the alt
