Yes I core sampled transom and stringers. The pvc floats, their was no flotation foam when I demoed.
like I said I went over the design with my friend who is a structural engineer the way the hull is designed .the floor was keeping the gun Wales from pulling away from one another.
the boards are doing the same work as the the deck.
it is safe. The hull was always designed to let water flow from the bow to the bilge from under the deck.
so why not keep the same design.
the pvc deck boards are structural in their use.they are approved for deck construction.
I've also spoken with timbertechs. Tech department about my use and their lateral strength.
you are seeing more and more boats with alternative forms of flooring.
