Been perusing old threads on removing foam and @scottdanforth you I think it was mentioned this about 11 years ago. Still good?

I always trash the deck joiners and use doublers to secure the different sections together, just need to remain mindful of the stringer placements.

For steering, I replaced mine with a Seastar NFB 4.2

switched to my shakey tool whis is much faster and can slide in underneath what does not pop out. I ordered extra long blades for towards the stern so I'm moving to the bow today. Alot seems to be popping out - there is kinda like a shell where it touches the aluminum.

easy stuff coming out. About 90 minutes of work, including one beer. Not looking forward to the difficult stuff

Got the rear side panels loose and one out. Started to pull the steering cable for the other side, beer called me plus I have a pretty young lady coming for supper tonight while the wife is in Tucson and the kids are at dads for spring break. Shrimp and cod tacos, my famous nachos and pepper rice paired with a couple top shelf margaritas.

oh and i can find the post to reply to but thought someone told me they replaced their steering with a seastar, looked today and that is what is on there and the cable looks pretty new - can actually read the words on the cable so i think I'm good there.

If you plan on replacing your rod holders/braces, I'm happy to send you the ones I had made before deciding to go with Starboard. 3/4" ACX ply sealed with 2 part epoxy. I never got around to finishing them up with the sanding and painting, but they are all cut to fit and ready for finishing.

Sorry I didn't help with the foam. I haven't gotten any notifications for this thread for some reason.

These are my usual tools for taking out foam. Cut it into squares, whack the big flat bar into the cuts, and bust it out.

There's no need to grind it out with the wire wheel.

I'll study on the holders. Mine are rotted a couple inches up was just going chop that off if I reused. I'm thinking about making that area into storage somehow. I have rod holders on the topside and just run with that.
