I found a 302/ mercruser but I think it might be a bit to much power for my boat.

Yup, prolly too much power and way to big/heavy. I am thinking 3.0L would be very comfortable for your rig and easy to mount up with those stringer/motor mounts. A 4.3L V6 would take up more space at the stern and be heavier, but she would move very well.

No way I'd put a V8 in that 18 footer unless you strictly wanted to build it as a go fast boat. In that case, 5.7 or bigger.

Pressure washed



Got some paint off the out side with the pressure washer, and tried some oven cleaner to soften the paint.



Then finally got the engine pulled.

Makeing some real good progess there Dirt, boy them "Stringers" sure leave a big hole in the stern.
