Thoughts and prayers <3

Who knew that a stupid hydraulic hose would be what kept us from splashing today...

But you certainly don't want to be spraying hydraulic fluid into the waters. That's not ok

Kicker was definitely jumping all over the place when we were driving... does anyone strap their kicker down? or do you let it bounce? We've got the biggest 2 stroke bracket you could get from panther...

Actually winched the stump out we were using to pull the boat with... so then we had to reposition lol

JB weld did not hold up to the steering wheel moving. Broke the seal when we moved the stern drive. So we really just need a new ram. Sucks.

So we're on our way to the Bay :) going to use the kicker.

We'll throw out some crab traps and troll for salmon or maybe plunk. Going to get the engine idling well in neutral and play with the carb a little bit. Won't put it in gear above 1200 rpm... That's what the manual says anyway and it seems it's a heated discussion on the internet lol.

So it's kinda a splash! We're gonna look for a used ram to replace the bad one.

24 Crab!

Trial by fire in Tillamook bay!

Today we're heading to the Columbia to hopefully catch some Sturgeon. Today's the last day it's open to retention.

Boat is doing well. We met up with our friend's at Fairview marine and got a new hydraulic ram last night. Plugged it in and we're good to go! Bled the line by raising the pump 5-6 times.

Got the photo tachometer out and the boat is idling at 400 RPM!!!!!! MOST GLORIOUS SUCCESS.

We'll get her in the water today and actually use the main engine, not just the kicker :D :D :D

We do have a small leak somewhere... every 2.5 hours the bilge turned on for maybe 3 seconds? But we've read most everyone's riveted boats leak so we're not too upset... Maybe we'll give it some time and see how it works :)

Day 2!!

Hello from the Willamette river! Our lower shift cable is shot I believe. We could only shift into reverse and could only shift into neutral after killing the engine. After pulling the Lower shift cable, we found that it had full travel all over the place...

I suppose that means we need to replace the lower shift cable... Which sucks because we didn't and watermann told us to. Symptoms of a blown lower shift cable are that it travels up and down no problem right?

Found the problem. The retaining screw had come undone. Not sure why or how, but we'll reinstall it and see if we can shift ok again! (most likely yeah). Might have been a step we missed when reassembling. The previous owners did some funky stuff I tell ya....

You have to tie that screw up with some SS wire or it will back off again.

Pic from our trip to the Columbia!

Even though the sterndrive wouldn't engage still had a great day on the river. Even if things don't go perfectly, you can't let it get you down :)

Aaaaaaaand the rain has begun.
Going to be working in 3 day stints most likely. Having to cover / uncover the boat is going to suck, but I think we were spoiled having that marvelous tent and siding with house to protect.

We're still working on the boat cover supports.

After a long winter (not really Oregon had a super super easy one), we're ready to finish this girl!

Tomorrow we pull the cover and see if the engine fires up. We drained the block in December but didn't fog it... Hopefully we don't need to do a quick carb cleanout ;)

Best of luck to you. Sure wish our winters were that short here.
