71 Resorter Repaint

I am restoring a 71 Century Resorter, the deck has a textured fibreglass that i am trying to maintain. It has some spider cracks that my painter says will not cover with paint. Has anyone repainted a surface like this and had a good result with the surface? Got any suggestions?

Are you sure that is not covered in vinyl...I have a 1970...deck is vinyl....Al
