After a couple of false- starts, I have found my bounce-back boat. A wildfire in 2018 melted my LS El Dorado before I completed my restoration… A7BECE4B-7073-4CED-BB0F-21669339F45C.jpeg

I kept looking for an Eldo, but they can be tough to find out west. So in the fall of 2020, I found a LS Cruisemaster that seemed to be a likely candidate. I drove the 750 miles to pick it up. The first thing I noticed is the cabin is not as height friendly as the Eldo.

The trailer alone was probably just over 1,000 lbs. And when an early snowstorm popped up on my return, I made a smart decision to find a storage yard in Nevada. I returned home empty handed.

Unfortunately before I got back out there, I became smitten with another boat. A Texas Maid Electra. It was bigger and definitely has some cool lines even if it is the the backwoods cousin to the Lone Stars. 330EA579-96DF-4D2C-89DF-A4CF6D6728BA.jpeg

It is I/O which definitely outside my comfort zone. But the reality is it just isn’t the right boat for me. I can’t put my finger on why.

Then this summer (and really why am I even looking?) I see this Cruiseliner for sale and it is right in my backyard! Now I already have 2 boats so definitely need tread carefully about bringing in another boat! Somehow the stars and planets aligned and I got the green light! Luckily I had some one interested in the Cruisemaster and we struck a deal pretty fast. He is going to make it a thing of beauty! The TexasMaid is still around but I hope I can move it to someone who can bring it back to glory.

And yea, this is it! It has the Eldo lines and 4 more feet of room! More pictures coming soon.

I have started to pull the flooring and have done a dry fit on some of the new pieces. I am know ready to use the old-timers formula to seal the pieces. Is there a temperature limitation when using it?

The Spar Urethane will have a temp range to use it in. Follow that as the drying time will be significantly extended in cooler temps. Make sure your wood is bone dry when you apply it.

Thanks. I will check that temp requirement and hope it is warm enough. The wood is in my (unheated) garage so it is dry (except for humidity).

And yes, those are packing peanuts. We pulled out 2 full garbage bags of packing peanuts! There was also spray in foam surrounding a funky half-pipe channel from the bow eye-hook. It is loose so I am guessing it leaked some. Anyway, peanuts and spray foam have been removed.

After weeks of rain, I finally got back to the boat. The drain got clogged at some point so there was an unintentional leak test!
Pulled the rotten floor on the open rear deck. More crazy styrofoam! Threw out 5 big trash bags of it.

Hopefully the weather will be good to restart more work.
