Now I am wondering what to use for setting stringers...some people say you want a little cushion between the stringer and the hull some just use peanut butter, some use wood and panel adhesive before the peanut butter, some use loctite 5200 marine sealant...I'm so confused!:facepalm:

You can use anything to set the space under the stringers, I used old screws set under temporarilty, then just use pb and your tool of choice to make a cove, and force resin underneath...I used bondo squeegies...some use cut pvc pipe or spoons, ext.

BF 426 Paralysis by analysis is a bad thing. The majority consensus on this forum is to bed your stringers in thickened Resin (peanut butter) You only need about 1/4" and then a rounded fillet to make the transition easy to tab the glass. It's all described for you here...Fabricating Decks, Stringers, and Transoms I'd recommend you make a decision on how you're going to do it and then just do it!!! Stop listening to all the opinions. I think you've done you're homework well enough and know the pro's and con's. Do it the way that makes the most sense to you and if you have issues during the process of getting it done we'll help you with that.

No cushion, stringers will be attached tightly to the hull after bedding when you lay them up, bedding should be solid too.

Wood and panel adhesive (PL Premium) is used regularly on this forum because of ease of installation, but you have to wait at least 72 hrs. for the off-gassing to stop before doing your layups. 5200 will be expensive and a runny mess trying to bed in stringers, you'll probably waste more than you use.

Thickened epoxy resin will be your best build to bed your stringers in with, you said you're going to have excess... why not use it and save the money you'd spend on something else.

I like to think of hard spots this way; put a pane of glass on a flat surface and step on it, it won't crack. Put a bb under it and step on... Creating a gap and filling it is like making a flat surface. Just laying the stringer on the hull and glassing it in is like having two bb's between the hull and stringer. Hope that helps.
