Nice lookin' boat and nice work. I like the bench and I have been trying to think of what to put in the back of my interior-less Thunderbird. Now I have an idea :D

Also he finished the forword pads for the cubby area. I don't have all the carpet in yet but I set a piece in to see what it will look like.

Tuesday. New trailer tires and shocks arrive. Also I will be replacing the trailer bulbs and some wiring to clean it up. Also need to pick up the foam from the foam shop and drop it off at the upholstery shop. I don't want him waiting for anything. I will try to get a pick of the front seat.

The new seat from Overtons showed up today. So did the rest of my trailer tires. With the help of a buddy tonight we should be able to lay some carpet down.

I will post pics later.

Looks great and your upholsterer is fast. Are you going to carpet the entire floor?

Also all of the seats and benches are done and ready to pick up in the am. No pic's tonight as I am dead tired and need some sleep. This is the second night in row I have been working on the boat past 2am.

Pics in the afternoon.

Excellent job!

I love the back bench/sundeck and the way it hides the engine. I've only got a 19' instead of a 23', but you're inspiring me to re-think the way I'm going to re-seat my boat...hmmmm.

Re: 23ft Chris Craft Lancer. New floor and interior

I can't believe it has taken me so long to update this thread. I can say that all of the hard work paid off and the boat was done in time for the fouth of July week in Spirit lake, Iowa.
We had the boat in the water the entire week. I had replace a solenoid on the back of the motor that was keeping it from starting at times and I had ATF leak from the cooler lines.
Apart from that the boat was Awesome! There was not a time the boat was out that there was not atleast five kids in the boat. It pulled a tube with two kids with no problem and
the GPS showed a top speed of 39mph.

Here are some pics of the final build and day on the lake.
Starting the carpeting two nights before I have to towit to Iowa!

Finally in the water on July 4th. The lettering is new but I don't like the black. It will be changed to white this spring.

This is how the boat looked all week long.

Re: 23ft Chris Craft Lancer. New floor and interior

Just another update. I towed the Chris back to Iowa for the July 4th week vacation. Once again it was an absolute dream on the water. The 454 does not sip gas by any means but was dead reliable.

I got back to Minnesota on Saturday and went out to Lake Minnetonka today. A full day on the lake with my friends and a bunch of sweet classic boats. one 1976 Correct craft ski boat, a 1971-2 Donzi sweet sixteen with a 360 V8 in it and the Chris Craft Lancer.

All this time on the water has got me thinking again about what still needs to be done to the boat. So the build thread is back on.

I plan on
1. Finishing the side panels. The sides are just bare.
2. new rub rails.
3. Having a Bimini top made for it.
4. Having a canvas cover made for it.
5. Address the stereo issues.... Like why can't I hear it at all.
6. Removing the seat I got from Overtons for the Passenger side and replacing it with a bench type seat that will make a large L from the back bench forward.
7. And the most important one of all is the thru-hull exhaust I need to have for it. My friends 360 Donzi was so awesome at speed and idle. I must have that rumble....

So there it is. The boat was just pulled into the garage(much to my wives chagrin) for the start of the side panel construction.

Look for updates in the following weeks.

let me know when you are working on those side panels. I need to do at least one side on mine... it'd be good to learn a bit through making your job harder on your boat first. here are some photos of Chads boat from today!

Damn nice of you to post those up. Jasin's Donzi sits so low in the water. Really love the look of them. I think I could see my self piloting a Donzi Hornet at some point....

The Dozi's do look nice but I LOVE freeboard!!! When he is thinking about calling it a day due to chop....you're still there. I was also wondering, did you seal the 2x2's and 2x4's you used for the stringers? I really liked the way you fitted all the pieces together. The end result is just fantastic. Great job!!!
