I have decided to bracket a 23 ft Glasply. I ordered a flotation bracket to I stall but obviously need to beef up the transom. My plan was to plug the hole but feather out the glass around the plug and reflash about 3ish inches past the plug. Two layers each overlapping a few inches more than previous. From there was thinking I should glass in a gusset or two from the transom to side of hull. Then two knees to the center stringers. Possibly an additional small shear tie to each fiberglass stringer. I know this may seem overkill but I would rather go overkill than under do it and regret it. My main question is should i also add an additional 1/2 to 3/4 inches to the i side thickness of the transom?
