The final weekend of Nascar racing is upon us. Starting this evening, the 2021 Nascar champions will be crowned. I don't know why, but the three series have a practice round and race qualifying. As Jayski said "(Feels odd typing this) - both PRACTICE and QUALIFYING on tap."

News and Notes

• Since we have practice and qualifying, starting positions won't be known until tomorrow evening after qualifying. Just a reminder, it's been so long.
• Larson is the favorite to win the race on Sunday and the championship.
• X-Man Hemric's hauler had a problem in Texas on the way to Phoenix. He may not make it in time for practice at 6 PM
• Parental Warning - TWT has not completed sensitivity school. Keep some cotton handy. He has until the start of next season.
• TV ratings - NBC earned a 1.61 rating with 2.627 million viewers for Sunday’s Xfinity 500 at Martinsville.

Cindric is on the pole for tonight's X-Race. JHNemechek is starting 2nd.

While X-Qualifying was underway, Cup inspections were in progress. Elliott is the only one of the 4 going for the big trophy who made it through the 1st pass. The other 3 flunked the 2nd time and lost a crew member. Truex and Larson passed the third time. Still to go is Hamlin.

Cup qualifying is on CNBC at 7, in a few minutes.
