Hi. There are at least 4/5 standard smart craft alarms that are of no relevance to your engine. Pivot fuel sender trim position and occasionaly the sw one too. There is one more but cannot remember. I’ll check mine just now.

I replaced the water pressure sensor and it cleared the code.... I assume it's working properly. I'm gonna try and get this thing to water again for the first time since last fall, and see what happens. I have a guy with a MERC scan tool. I'll have him do a scan and see if it might show something I otherwise can't find out. Just not sure where else to go from here.

I'm Back ! I have done a few things (new impeller and thermostat) and that covers most issues... I took the boat to water still with high oil pressure at idle. I couldn't believe it... she ran great under load and performed well up to 4000 rpm - then it didn't like it and back fired once and hesitated to go any faster - almost telling me "DON'T PUSH IT FELLA" ! ... but still ran great up to that. I should remind y'all that this is a NEW 350 MAG long block and this was the first time I've had it up on plane in 5 years. The only thing I noticed, either than not being able to go full pop, was that there is lots of black carbon coming out of the exhaust mixed with the water (earlier on the hose) and what I think is more than average smoke (exhaust). I do realize I probably shouldn't go full pin with a new engine as I should be breaking it in. I will still bring it in for a scan i suppose to see if it threw any codes..... Anything else I can do? many thx... happy spring !

2005 Sea Ray 240 Sundeck Smartcraft SPEEDO and hose no MPH !

Hi y'all...
Out on the water for the first time the other day and my smart craft speedo isn't working. I have a 2005 Sea Ray 240 Sundeck with a repowered 350 mag from the original 5L serial 0W068236. Not sure if this is a Sea Ray problem or a smart craft problem. i've checked the forums and clubsearay seems to be offline, so my question is WHERE DOES THE HOSE GO that comes from the transom into THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ??? it's floating out there....

I've cleaned the pickup at the Bravo3 and blown air into the hose which is felt in the hose on the engine compartment side where she floats without being plugged into anything. Doesn't go to the gauge, so is there a pickup somewhere on my engine or close by?

Also checked my manual and they musta missed that one !

I'm puzzled... I have no such thing, but no to say it wasn't there at one time. I had this boat repowered and perhaps it was on the old block? If not, is there another option for where the hose would go? OR as I've always had smart craft gauges, maybe it just didn't get dealt with. i see a wire plug on my harness at the back that says paddle/sea temp that's capped off. Is this where I could plug it in should I buy a pitot kit ? I suppose this is the only option for smartcraft as the hose doesn't go to the gauge.... There are a few capped plugs off my harness....I wonder if that's why my fuel gauge doesn't work either !

I didn't own it before ! So, I have no idea where or how the speedometer was rigged.... pitot or otherwise. Like I said, I do have a few capped off plugs that might be the answer.... just need help with where the wire for the pitot would plug into the harness.

During the change over, the harnesses had both analog and digital. This way the manufacture could go either way on their build. So first check for 5V on the Black/Pink wire, and then check for voltage on the Blue/Black prior to start, and again after start

If it is connected you should be able to disconnect the plug and the display would change

I measured the harness plug. I get 4.78V on blue/black and 5v on grey, but I get nothing on black/pink. When I start the boat, the voltage goes from 4.78v on blue black to 4.82v. Still nothing on black/pink. When I remove the plug to oil sensor, gauge goes down to 50 psi with key turned. So.... no power to black/ pink.... any ideas from here?

This belongs in your other Smartcraft thread which I just noticed.

And that's where it's going.

Back to our original thread.... Do you know what I plug the pitot kit into? What part of the existing harness? Or should I start a new thread ?

If this is a standard speed-o, it uses a thin rubber hose that connects to the transom assembly, and then to the bell housing on a Bravo, or onto the drive for an Alpha

Yes... I have the hose hooked up where it should be at the bravo 3 end, coming through the transom, into the engine compartment. My issue is finding where that hose goes in the engine compartment, specifically, what part of the wiring harness should the barb plug into ... I've repowered from a 5L to a 350 MAG and I imagine nothing was done to remedy this on the new engine... I will get a pitot kit, just have to know where it plugs in to on the harness so it hits the smart craft gauges ! (all gauges have always been smart craft , so no converting from analog)

It doesn't plug into the harness at all. The hose comes from the barbed fitting on transom to the helm and into the back of the speed-o

Only wires that connect to the speed-o is for lighting

Here's a front and back of my smart craft speedo... not sure where the hose is going to go here......
I was under the impression that the hose comes from the transom, INTO the barb, then sending electronic signal by wire to the harness, then to the gauge using pitot kit 881879A22. I don't see another way here..... am I way off? Pretend you are in the engine compartment, you are staring at a hose coming from the transom and have nowhere to go with it..... that's my dilemma ... If there was ever a barb on the old block, it wasn't replaced as far as I can see.... there are a few extra plugs on the wiring harness such as paddle wheel/sea temp and another one not labeled... could that be where the barb would plug into after having the hose go to the other end?
