Re: 2000 Bayliner Capri Deck and Interior Rebuild

good to hear that everyone thinks i made the right choices so far :D i hoping to get the boat back from the garage today. had some work done on the trailer (replace leaf springs and repack the hubs). looking forward to getting back to work on it. i still have to replace the bunk mounts and hardware. i am planning on attacking that as soon as i get it back. not sure if i will be able to do it with the boat on the trailer or not. have to get the trailer work done to make the drive back to pennsylvania from alabama

in the mean time here are some pics of the bow seats support removal and whatnot. I cut out all the rot and soft wood. the foam underneath was damp, but it was nothing that a day in the alabama sun with fans blowing it didn't dry out. luckily i didn't have to cut all the way back to remove the console's. the rest of the wood still is real solid. im thinking that this will make mounting the new ply easier.

i got one side cut out and layed the first coat of resin the other night before i took the boat to the shop for the trailer work. this is wear i will pick up once i get the trailer ready for the move. i want to get these done before i add another layer of glass to the front deck. now that i know about tabbing, i'm sure i will take this step up front. after that it should be on to glassing the whole structure in and gelcoating the deck :D

Thanks! I actually just cut the templates for the bow from the templates i made for the deck. I got away with only purchasing one sheet of stryofoam for this whole project so far :D

looking good, i never thought of using foam for templates cause im having a hard time finding big enough pieces of cardboard for most of my boat so i guess i might have to go get some foam now

yes you definately should, i got mine at lowes in the insulation section. i think it was $10-$15 a sheet. but rather spend that then mis cut the ply that i bought.

Re: 2000 Bayliner Capri Deck and Interior Rebuild

So i did get the boat and trailer back from the shop tonight. of course more work needed to be done then expected, but oh well. they actually had to cut the wheels from the hubs and replaced the lug studs they were that corroted. needed to be done though. i jumped into finishing up the bunk supports and bunks themselves once i got it home. i ended up getting done about 1AM. easy for me to stay up and work, cause i just got off flying nights... haha. anyways, heres the pics! looking forward to continuing with the deck and whatnot tomorrow :)
