Idles poor or not at all..took to marine engine mechanic..told compression on cylinder 1 was 40# not feasible for repair at 200 per hour ..otheriwse boat only needs a spark plug and blower fan? Anyone have any comments? Havent put in water afraid it will not run on 3 cylinders. 1st time boater just learning but surely there is another solution besides the dump?

Well, if you are mechanically inclined and has the desire and patience to learn you can try fixing it yourself. First, you will need a manual copy even better a maintenance manual. For a starter you can remove the head and do an inspection of #1 cylinder. Is it just a blown head gasket or a blown piston? Is the cylinder gouge or just scored lightly or heavily? Get your smart phone ready and take pics each step of the way and document everything you remove or dismount. In this way you have reference on how to put it back.

You said L Force which I have to assume is an L drive. Parts for the drive are not even available. You would be best dumping money into an outboard boat

Before you spend, remove the head and see if the gaskets bad?

Do as Jerryjerry05 stated, remove the head as the gasket could be bad. Being number 1 the top cylinder, it will be easy to see if the rings did damage. People need to de-carb every season, the rings get stuck on one side and break.
