You can see from the end profile that it looks much better now on the 45 degree angles between planks. This is also one coat of spar varnish applied. Will be coated just like the other teak with multiple coats making it as smooth as possible.

This was when I started to varnish. The first coat always looks iffy because it needs to soak into the wood. By the time it dries, it looks alot better and just continues to look better every coat.

Got 2 coats applied last night before hitting the sack.

Sanded down this morning ready for third coat.

Sanded down and coat number 5 applied. 4 or 5 more coats and it should be smooth and look great. :) Maybe I'll get started on refinishing that teak table its sitting on.

Got the last coat on the swim platform sprayed tonight. Took a total of ten coats to get her to look the way I wanted. Will be installing it on the boat tmrw. Think it came out SWEEEET! :) Starting on the cabin doors next.

Well, the next time you need to cut the monkey fur, I know what you'll use for a shaving mirror! Million mile deep shine, TURNED OUT GREAT!

Looks fantastic, the louvered doors will be challenging, but w/ this much attention to detail, they too will be looking good! If they're really straight, you might pass them through a planer. Since you have to pull the hinge hardware anyway, just a thought.

Finally back in town for more then 36hrs. Trip to Louisville included a stop to grab a 1971 Merc 650.

Lol, The monkey fur will hopefully never have to be cut again! :) Thanks for the compliments. The doors will definately be more challenging but I have my angle sander at the ready. The doors were sanded down a while back and teak oiled, so it shouldn't take to much work to get them ready for varnish. They are under the hardtop, so don't really see the weather that the other peices do. Hope it goes smooth anyway. The tuffest part I am sure is getting all those little louvers to be smooth. Time consuming but not impossible. ;)

Thanks for coming aboard! And thankyou for the compliment!:D I only can afford one boat, so I am trying to make her last, lol A little tlc definately goes along way imo. I have been accused of being a perfectionist sometimes and I don't mind having that signature at all. I am a remodeling contractor and try to bring quality to all the jobs I do. Now if I could just get "my" house squared away I would be good to go.

Maybe move on the boat when its finished and finish the house up. ;) Anyway, appreciate you reading through my thread, and hope it brings some good info to others.

Didn't get the platform mounted today, got home to late. But it is sitting on the brackets and is ready to install. Still need to mount the swim ladder on it also. The bolts will get set in lifeseal as to not let any water intrusion into the mounting holes. Also if you look close, you will see in the after pic there are no longer and grooves in the planks, think it looks much better this way.

Yeah, seen that the other day. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! lol. I would be happy to supply the 5 gallons of gasoline to see it burned to the ground though:)

I love the old Chris Crafts, but way to much maintenance for me.

I want to know how that conversation went:
"Hey honey, If you need me, I'll be walking around on the roof taking pictures for the fella's at I-Boats!

All the redone teak makes it pop! Almost looks new! Doors will be a challenge, but if they turn out half as good, they'll be great!

Thanks man, I appreciate it!:) Got to finish the interior up over the winter though, and a couple other small projects, but the fish are on the radar. Hope to pull her down south for some tuna fishing this coming spring.

Got my new bow light in the mail today:D yeah! I really like the looks/style of it and it looks to be well constructed. Has 20 leds total. This will really finish off the bow pulpit. That is until I can afford a windlass.

Just stumbled upon your thread chriscraft254. Very nice boat! Also very good work with all the teak. It'll be well worth it in the end of the work. I also loved the LED's that you put on.

Keep up the great work! :D
