is there a way to check the stator not running? thanks guys

There should be an ohm spec for that stator. You could check it that way. Otherwise it only can serve 2 functions. Ignition and charging the battery

You need a peak reading voltmeter. Edit: I see, you mean a way to check with the motor not running. Yes, an ohm meter will say something. A better test is with a working starter motor if electric start and a peak reading voltmeter.

Answer me this...what makes you ask the question? The stator is an incredibly reliable part, they fail, yes, but not often.

There are many other parts that fail much more.

You can take ohm readings on the ignition charge coils.-----Battery charging coils.-----And the sensor coils.----All found under the flywheel.-----If the powerpack is under the flywheel you may have to remove flywheel to test them.-----So what is your motor doing / not doing ?

motor was running fine, shut it off, then will not start, no fire at all

Start at beginning. Open airgap spark test with appropriate tester.

Compression test.

Fuel sample.

I dont really know that ignitions system, but I always start with the cheap and easy stuff first. Make sure everything is still connected, that you didnt trip a kill switch, that a wire isnt shorting or burned, that the fuses are intact. After that your probably gonna want a service manual or good internet source for the ohm values and test procedures of the ignition components.
