I’m looking at a 1989 21 foot Steiger Pilot house for $9500.
boat has 2007 135hp Honda with 325 hours also comes with trailer. Does have a soft spot on the floor. I love this style boat worried about the age of the boat. Am l opening up a can of worms. Currently own 94 cc robalo18 that I like but always wanted a pilot.

Probably a 21' can of worms.. Soft spot on the floor generally means a rotted boat as the floor/ deck is the last to rot ( stringers/ transom being first ).. However a boat of that nature is worth rebuilding but $9,500 for such a boat isn't really worth it... IF you were doing the work yourself it would take ~$3,500 in materials and ~100 man hours at least..

The outboard books for about $3,700, so I'd price it at $2,500- $3,000 total only because of the outboard being 'worth' $3,700 in peak season... If you did a marine survey it would fail.

If I am not mistaken The stringers in 89 were wood. I redid a 1994 21' Steiger Craft Block Island and the stringers were foam. Had the same deal rotted floor, water logged foam and rotted transom. It took me and entire summer to rip the floor out and all the floatation foam, surprisingly the stringer foam was dry. Also had to replace the gas tank as the aluminum was badly pitted --the tank was encased in foam. This boat had an inboard/outboard I converted to an out board (200 yamaha). My son got the boat for $800 it had been sitting under a tree for 15 years. It was big job but I love the boat and get compliments all the time, just don't see this type of boat in SC. Previous post was correct take about $3-4000 in materials and $18000 for the motor but I could never afford to buy a new Steiger Craft --basicly this boat is new now. Good luck
