had a few folks ask me why i went with raptor liner for hull so figured id clear it up,
hull had been painted and i stripped it but the gel cote was horrid shape i took that and cleaned up as well , at that point i had to decide, since most boat bottom paints require you to be in water and I wanted something waterproof that could withstand abuse i chose the Raptor-liner. Line-x and others pro applied would have worked as well however i was not going that route since i actually prefer the raptor to Line-x
Now i know some will say its not smooth anymore however after reading performance boats have dimpled hulls now , and this aint a performance boat, i did't feel that would be a issue, I came to conclusion Gel cote is great for new boats but for restoration not so much, this product wont crack peel or blister if done correctly.I am told there is even a clear you can apply for sun but since its on bottom i don't feel i need that: 21 ft boat took 10 liters/quarts with a mix as per directions i did 1 liter 250 ml of hardener and 250 or less of the thinner to lay it down so it wasn't as rough as a bed liner.

ok so when smoothing out the glass getting ready to paint the boat sides who uses a long board and how do you use a long board if there are no flat areas?

Looks like your moving along real good Mick! We finally have 60-70 weather this weekend. I may just throw some sand in the yard and lay in it for a few hours. Well...before the cats show up that is.

raptor says 4 to 7 days but im going to give it two weeks baking in the sun before i flip and continue the boat , plus gives me time to decide on what way i want to go with trailer, would love a new one , maybe if i come into money that will happen , if not i will be going the resto method and putting a couple 5k axles springs and hardware under the triple axle frame, this boat doesn't require a triple axle trailer heck some one was saying most of these boats came with single 5k axled trailers but to me that's pushing it and i want to drag to west coast so having duel axle lends it to being safer.

so i am about to work on inside of top half of boat , i need to make a couple hatch covers, my idea is to use release in the channel around hatch, then cover opening and pour in self leveling sea cast this way i get a perfect hatch cover thats strong , anyone see a problem with this? is the seacast strong enough on its own or should i put some roving in , also would the seacast permeate the roven or would i cause hollow because sea cast wont encapsulate the glass properly? or just use regular cloth or biaxel?....

got the windows and top off it, that went smooth looks like i also found the runner s/weather stripping for the window channel that will make it nice to have smooth opening and closing windows ... feels like its moving along , also sanded all the spider cracks out of one side of the top to bare glass and gel coated and smoothed , not sure, i still wanna do the whole boat with raptor/urathane paint then gel cote since poly has a little bit of give to it, plus i love the idea that if something hits it it isn't going to spider crack to hell
