you know, it makes no sense I cant find a replacement 3.0l engine block , I have yet to find any company that will supply just the block , with as many of these that were made you would think some one would be offering block only .

I'd check machine shops around. They get stuck with engines all the time. I'd imagine boat engines more than car. The customer buys a new boat and just never picks the old engine up. Worth a looksie around a few local shops. Otherwise I'd go junk yarding. I'm sorry for my ignorance here but what is the difference between a 120 and 140? Seems to me they should be the same with a carb and cam difference? You might have everything you need from the blown engine to make a 140 out of one of the new ones. Of course, things never work that easily do they.

well for a time they were the same block's just the 3.0 was the worst block imho because they took it to its limits and thinner walls meant more cracking . the 153 cu has thicker walls when they are the same block meaning imho its the better block . there is 2piece rear mains and 1 piece rear mains seals flywheels are different bolt patterns I'm told for each and then the 2.5 doesn't even have a balancer just a pully lol. look identical outside as they are same block casting basically. earliest 153 from like 64 thru 70 was the different block because that was used in cars after that it was just industrial applications and marine.

Gotta git er done one way or another. Better than sending the entire thing to the dump. You have 6 months of no boating so enjoy the winter :)

pfft I will take that as a challenge:) ohh pusher, pics coming but the engine that" was just running last week" is full of water , lol god I hate liars, don't matter I was more looking for a rebuildable core at this point but still id been pissed after even going back today and asking him when if ever he had it running and he goes wow like a week ago?if none of these motors are rebuildable I'm not pressed I still got parts and pieces but at that point I might be going to trying to figure out how to put a v6 into it since you cant seem to buy just a block anyplace for 3.0

ok I stand corrected it "might have ran last week however it was full of water because it was allowed to seep down the open exaust and carburetor so basically I will probably have to lapp valves and polish the ports to get rid of the surface rust, reciprocating assemby feels fine so I'm going to tear it down rest of way get it dipped checked honed if possible and then rebuild should be a quick easy rebuild then I can run this one awhile while taking time with other 2 goal is to have 2 spares ready to go for whatever:)

Just poking fun her Mick but do you think you could have maybe not used all the lights in the back room and maybe put 2 or 3 of them in the front room. Maybe get rid of the horror movie chainsaw massacre light? Lol. I thought that back room was outside when I first saw the pics. It's lit up like an O.R.

Heh, looks like a hurricane went through there ;-)

You'll get it worked out. A deal too good to be true usually is too good. Craigslist sucks sometimes, and that's putting it nicely.
