Scrapping the arm rests should be fine, but what about the drink holders? :sorrow: :nightmare: :boink:

Yeah, I have to figure something out for drink holders. I was thinking of those fold out ones, IDK, I have to see what can be done later on.

JaCrispy, work is looking good. I like the dirt bike also. Years ago I raced a 1989 Honda CR250. Was pretty decent "C" Rider. I would even win one now and again. But 35 years old back then was a little old to be racing with a bunch of twenty somethings with nicer bikes. Decided I liked my back in one piece so I sold the bike.

Thanks for the compliments!

I dont ride as much as I used to, but just turned 40 and still love the old 125 two stroke. Im a mid pack B rider and stick with the vet classes when I race. Work, mortgage, yadda yadda yadda....

So I ordered extra material to cover the front bucket seats and while dismantling the seats I found cracked seat pans and broke a few seat mount screws. I was tempted to try to repair the seats but didn't want to put all that work into something with a bad frame. So I ordered up a pair of these: http://i5.walmartimages.com/dfw/dce07b8c-c835/k2-_f8a28d2d-0db4-458c-9848-4e380536ba7b.v1.jpg

The plan is to try to add a red & black stripe to tie them in with the rest of the boat.

The new gelcoat, being stark white, is a shade or two off the 27 year old hull. I'm planning on fixing some spider cracks and refinishing the white later on so it's "good for now".

New seats in, and the same story. The new seats are pure white and the vinyl I used is called "bone white" so it's one shade off. Probably wont tell the difference in the sun. Who cares, I had Cracked Nasty White before. lol The flip up bolsters will be a huuuuge help looking ahead. When I'm in a no wake zone I cant see over the bow and am constantly sitting with my knee on the seat or kind of standing to peek over the bow. This will save my back for sure.

Finishing off some loose ends, bilge pump hoses, new cleats, etc. Pretty much just need to purchase a rubrail insert and bottom paint. Going to wetsand then polish the rear section of the top cap then install the seat cushions. That compound flies everywhere.

You could get one of those cheap gelcoat mixing kits and mix up a small amount, apply to some scrap and when dry compare, might take a few try's.

Flip up bolsters are nice, in my Rinker I sit on a throw cushion. Still plan on putting the strips on the seats?

Bolsters are awesome that is what I want to get for mine. But they are a little pricey

Right now I just want to move along and get this thing in the water. haha But yes, I plan on somehow adding stripes to the front seats. Probably make a panel, stitch it to the top seam then bring it down and staple it underneath.

I do need to get a gelcoat kit. I have a gouge in the red gel that I need to address. How do you tint the white to make it more off white though?

Also, can someone tell me what bottom paint I have? It's black with a cpper hue and scrapes off pretty easy. Need to do some touch up.

It's probably something like Interlux Bottomkote. If you scraping it off easy you probably need to remove/replace. If your not going to leave it in the water then touch up is fine

As for tinting white, no expert here but add a drop of brown will dull white

I forgot to take some better photos, but the boat worked flawlessly the first time out yesterday! Had a blast with the family fishing and caught some nice blues.

Interior all cleaned up

Thanks for the compliments. We DID have a cup holder issue though. HAHA!

I plan on making something similar to those portable armrest cupholders you can buy. I'll use the same vinyl I used for my bench seat though.
