So, I am new to this boating community thing - I bought an 88 Bayliner with a 2.3L Ford I/O OMC CObra a month ago, got it home, motor running great (now, at least after changing all the fuses), but i can't get the trim to work. When I click the trim button, I hear it wanting to work and making the noise, but the motor will not move it up or down. Please let me know if you guys have any ideas!

I hear it wanting to work and making the noise
What kind of noise is it making? Click, buzz, hiss, grind? Is the motor turning real slow?

It is making the clicking noise as it should be working - cant seem to hear any other noise than that.

Since it's clicking, I will assume the clicking is coming from the solenoids on the engine. Below is the wiring diagram. Make sure the 50A fuse is good and you have power on the up and down solenoids on the red/purple wires.
If that checks out, use a test light or DVM to see if you have power to the green/white and blue/white wires when someone holds the button in up and down.

First thing I would recommend, ( being that it is easy) - Check the fluid and make sure it has some in it...

Could you advise me on how to do that? Not 100% sure where I should check...Thanks in advance!

Not sure what checking the fluid is going to do for you if you don't hear the pump running.

All i hear is a click, nothing else.
Did you do the checks I mentioned earlier?

Are you hearing the solenoids click or the pump itself?
