Hey all. I apologize for not reporting back for awhile. I have finished the main chunk of this resto. Thank you all for your help! I would have a useless piece of aluminum if not for everyone who contributes here. This is a pic at the lake( the big splash) the boat ran perfect and did not leak a bit.

Congratulations! It’s a lot of ups and downs doing the type of restoration you did but you pulled it off. And an awesome looking job you did!
l can only imagine how proud you must be. Nice going.
If you ever come this way hit me up if you like. I ended up finding the catfish in Somerville drift fishing (a lot of fun) but great bass fun in Bastrop for quantity and Fayette for quality.

This was a very interesting backread…I just recently garbage picked a 1988 Starcraft Islander 190V…came with a Mercury 100 oil injection motor..looks like it’s been left to the elements for 15 years..was able to secure title for boat & motor and will restore to its original glory..this is the exact layout as the 1987…

So one of the last things I posted was my speed limit sign floor. I took that out because it didn’t feel very supportive. There was a river that let go on a support z… but I decided to go back to wood. This is what I came up with. Fiberglass cloth and epoxy.

Looks like a bar top. You going to cover it with paint or something to prevent the shine?

I took the hatch off today and couldn’t believe this styrofoam and 1/4 ply. Also I noticed the cabin top was just screwed on. Are these things normal.

Yes, maybe. I’m used to seeing other people on here having nice bent 2x4 looking pieces under there.

Now I'm curious if my 221 is like that, I'm betting it is.
It would also insulate the cabin area a little.

I'm also curious if your 87 has the screens on the side windows.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that, but my other cuddy is a 63. ;)

I also have some industrial Velcro on the front vent hatch, I'm thinking there should be a screen that Velcro's in place.
It's on my to-do list to make a new one.

I don’t know what to think about styrofoam and 1/4” ply.. I want to add an anchor and a windlass but I don’t see that structure being strong enough… I’m thinking I can replace bow skin and make supports making the bow flat..
