I have not been able to get a photo of the boat on the trailer, it has been raining all day. I did go out and clean the barn i was working in, I had to get all my tools, parts and other supplies so I could finish thing up. I am trying to get things wrapped up soon all the boats on the river i see are making me jealous.

Well its been awile! The weather turned sucky the min I took that boat out of the barn......had to though i promised it would be gone by the end of may.

Seems like it is going to take forever to finish this thing up!

Well I got the drive on, new lube and grease and all that fun stuff. Boy that was just a hoot!!! I also got the drive tested on muffs and all is good, just had to make a little adjustment to the shifter cable.

I was able to get some stuff done today also. Since I had good weather I pulled all the panels and bench and sundeck out and sprayed them down with Thompsons water proofer, since I didnt use marine ply for those to save a little money.

Once they dry it will be time to get them covered and finished up. Fingers crossed I will be doing on the water testing in about a week or week and a half.

I will get updated photos soon!

Re: 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner Refit/Repower

Now for the latest work done.

I got the cushions for the cuddy all covered and ready to go. I found after they where done that I will need more vinyl to finish the rest of the cushions. I was a little off on how much I would need.

I also got a lot of the carpeting done. Only a few thing to finish up. I had to call it a day cause I was sun burned and was getting rug burn on top of it, so it was time to rest!

The photos where taken with the cover on so dont mind the crutches that are being used to hold the center of the cover up.:D

Re: 1987 Four Winns 215 Sundowner Refit/Repower

Does any one have any ideas on how I can modify my cover to go around the poles for my tower?

I have been doing some experimentation with no success. The issue is the cover has a bungee cord that runs through a pocket so that it keeps tight around the boat and I dont want to remove it. I had thought I could run some stitches through it to keep it in place then cut a slit in the cover so it went around the poles and attach clips do that the gap could be closed once around the pole but I cant get a needle and tread through it even with a machine. The machine just hops over the cord.

I just dont want to have to drop another 200 bucks on a new cover. I could keep it as is but I would prefer a better fit, as you can see in the photos above because of the fit I had to use two crutches to keep it from catching water.

Any ideas would be helpful

Solar use a carpet needle and fishing line. O r cut into the pocket and not the cord and make you slot for the pole and then cut the cord and attach a hook and loop fastener on each end that can be attached when covering and able to pull tension back on the cord to keep the cover tight. She looks good

I like that idea of the hooks. I did some diging and found a few types. I didnt know that thise could be bought without a cord already on them. I like the idea of being able to just drap the cover around the pole and attach the hooks and go.

Thanks

Well had a few hours and some good weather today so I was able to finish up the side panels in the boat. Had to cut new holes for the throttle and I added 5 inch speakers to them. The got them covered installed and the shifter in. Not a huge step but still 4 hours of work.

Well I didnt get every thing done I wanted but I did get all the carpet complete, the headliner in the cabin, the dividing wall complete.

Lucky I was able to get help to finish it up, my brother used to do canvas for boats and had a lot of tricks i would have never thought of and would have wasted a lot of time to complete.

I used panels used to line showers to face the walls of the cabin, I didn't want to carpet them as they are in most boats and as the old ones. I really like the way it turned out.

I am getting so close I can tast it..........It getting hard to keep my head on, there have been a few things I have considered skimping on, but I have thus far been able to control my self, take my time and get things done. These small details are killing me, not because they ae difficault but because they take so much time!

I can tell you now I will never look into a carrier do upholstry!

I had little time to go and do some work, I trimmed all the carpet for the cabin so I had nice seams. The glue is still a little tacky, it so darn humid.

Thursday the weather should be nice so I am going to try and take another bit out of this thing.

I was almost able to finish up the cabbin today but ran out of time and had to stop to go to work. I got the door all trimed out.

IMG00485-20100625-1336.jpg

Added a little pad to the side of the dash since last season the kids heads seemed to find it to many times!

IMG00486-20100625-1336.jpg

I got all the back rest covered but only two installed

IMG00482-20100625-1335.jpg

I got the seats covered and in, you can see the area that the other back rest wil mount to.

I should finish cabin up tomorrow. I have to a little carpet work, I made a misscalculation on what would be seen and didnt put enough carpet in the nose so the cusion dosent cover it and you can see the fiber glass. Easy fix just have to get the glue out again.

I dont know if I will get it splashed this weekend like i wanted, I should during the week. My biggest issue is that my tow vehicle is in the shop getting transmission work. So theres no moving the boat.

The boat and trailer look fantastic.

It's great that you're not rushing as you'll be happier with the end product. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, I am doing my best to keep from rushing, but its hard. Next week end is the one event I look foward to all year and would not enjoy the holiday sitting in the grass instead of on by boat below the fireworks and away from the crowds!.

Got the cabin finished! Cross that of the list Check!

I also got the trim that was needed on the side panels of the boat. It was super hot today 90 and humid so work was slow! I finished the day by cleaning everything and vacuming the carpet so that I could get a better idea of how every thing is coming together.

Well we had some storms roll through today and it pretty much de-railed my originality plans for today, so to salvage the day from being a total wash I drug the new bench and sun deck into the house and the wife and I are working on getting it covered. I am taking a little break from it at the moment. Getting all the crap together and in the house took beat me up. So if figured I would do some iboats surfing. :)
