WOW. Looks awesome. I'm afraid fish will see their reflections and get spooked. lol. Yet maybe they'll be blinded by the Bling?

Thanks for the details Glen. I wish I could buy you some beer while I pick your brain. The least I could do. Maybe I'll get you back at the "Western Canadian StarMada Meet & Greet". Or Naked Lady Show n Shine.

Fish love shiney things, I think you will get a lot of thump'n on the bottom of that boat (•‿•)

Thanks Barato, Yea it will be a pretty unique looking SS, and with a whole lot less in it than $30K

I kind of fiqured that with no paint on the bottom even if some of those giant toothy Pike come up for a bite we won't have any damage LOL

Okay Darcy said if I don't post some progress pics soon He's going to hunt me down. So here is where I'm at. I have almost wrapped up the interior. I went to use the backing boards for the bow area back rest but they were far to rotten so, out came the 1/4 " ply.

So very nice. That 1/4 inch bent around really nice for ya. It was not original on my boat but I like the design. I have been thinking about a way to make that bow area more comfy more riders. Can you give me some details on the fastners? Looks like bolts/screws with finish washers. Correct?

LMAO. That's hilarious!

Thanks for the update Glen. Have you considered a live web-cam so we can follow the progress live 24 hours a day? Until next week when your finished. Maybe we could make a reality TV show, where we watch you Resto a SC in a weekend like Monster Garage?

Jet Powered SS 160? Islander Gunship?

I have so much confidence in restoring my boat now, after following yours and others jobs. When you know all the steps involved, and have lots of pictures to actually see the work, it makes me so eager to tear off my deck. lol. AND I stand a very good chance of doing a great job. That's priceless.

Thanks again.

Thanks Otte, The origional back rest went from the top of the gunwal right down to the seats, I had to change this so you have toe room when standing on the cacting deck. The fastners I use are Press The Dot, the male part of the snap can be had with various length screws, the female button piece is available in almost every color under the sun. I buy all my upholstery supplies here http://www.perfectfit.com/ awsome service and good prices.

Thanks Paul, we thought about that but between the beer drinking and the cussing after making yourself bleed, they would have to edit almost the whole show.lol

Re: 1987 16 ss

I had fun making those padded bow side cushions from scratch also.

I used T nuts that were set into the plywood before padded and covered.

Measuring/placement was difficult using the original slots, but I got a finished
product without the button look.

Several ways to achieve a common goal.

I clamped them on prior to bolting to get some bend memory in the plywood

Thanks for the link to that site. They have some really cool stuff there. Is this the type of fastner you are using on this padded sides? If not these are groovy too.

Hey Otte, no I'm using these. I purchased ther snap tool a couple of years ago, that is why I use them. The ones you linked would work as well. http://www.perfectfit.com/15328/154456/Snap-Fasteners/Fasnap-Colored-Snap-Buttons.html

Hey Starman, on my 18 I had to make new ones as well, but on it, I laminated two 1/4 ply together in a jig with the curve, it woked well but was a real pain in the butt. I used T bolts as well but fint these snap fastners a real easy.

Re: 1987 16 ss

A little more progress today, almost finished the interior, windshield installed, and control installed. Can anyone tell where to buy the plastic channel that goes around the bottom of the winshield in the slot over the screws?

Dozer - I have been looking around for this stuff too. I happens to be right here on iboats. The first link is to the stuff with the holes in it already but it is white. Not sure how that would look on that little black dress you have her in but the second link is darker foam so that may go for you. That dark foam looks a lot like stuff used for door jam insulation which I can find local and not pay shipping. I think I am just going the local route myself.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your bow pieces to me.
