Here is what my engine compartment is supposed to look like, notice the particle board barriers, they are not completely tabbed in or are they fully encased in fiberglass so when water hits it and stays there it seeps into the stringers which has happened to my engine compartment. Also in front of the engine is also a particle board barrier that is above the stringers and you guessed it, they aren't glassed all the way in either so when water gets to that it just eats the wood down to nothing.

The rot in the stringers next to the batteries is due to a poorly installed particle board separator that was never correctly sealed in so needless to say it rotted out and wasn't seen until I pulled the old batteries and installed the new ones, same thing on the other side however no batteries I found out while trying to service the 454 that the particle board had not been sealed properly and also is rotted out. The fuse panel/switch panel is also a mess as you can see, those glass style fuses are going to be replaced with resettable ones along with probably new gauges because I don't trust anything that the PO's have done to this boat

Folks after another fun week in the VA Hospital the doctors will no longer allow me to climb a ladder or even get onboard for another 8 weeks so this project is permanently on hold until next year. I am truly sorry that I can't move forward with this project until next year
