Re: 1986 21 ft starcraft cc restore

Thank you Joe. I did get it so I guess I'm now in the proverbial "Starcraft Club". I'm excited. As soon as I figure out this whole forum thing I will start the thread and post some pics.

Your boat looks great Joe. Can't wait to see more pics. Your thread has taught me a lot and ready to put my new knowledge to the test.

Nope, not yet. Can't be a member till you post those pics! (preferably in a new thread). It's our one and only rule I think!

Hey! Hope all is well bud...

thanks kev!

i painted the decking (i add some sand to the wet resin with a sand blaster and added some anti skid to the paint) i also added some speckle to the painted surfaces with a pounce brush. it's a round piant brush looks like an oversized makeup applicator. i also took the old "kick plates" (right angle pcs. where the deck meets the sides of the hull) and pealed all the old vinyl off as well as the alum corner beads. cleaned them up and painted them.

painted deck with kick plates in place

i don't know why i wanted the speckled paint but i did!! i plan on putting a blueish grey marine vinyl on the top of the gunwalls up to the top of the bow. any metal that is biege in the photo will get painted the same as the kick plates.
does any one have any feed back on working with the vinyl adhesive in cold weather?????

Looks great Joe..
I prob would have walked away..

also I was at a Sign tradeshow last week and this company had a air powered sheet metal tools that was cutting really intricate cutouts and rolled the edge as it cut..all I could think of..WOW..That could be handy for us tincan men!

My father purchased a 1986 center console fiberglass Starcraft about a year ago haven’t been able to find any anywhere until I stumbled across this forum but they all seem to be in rough condition or being rebuilt so here’s our current status it’ll look like a completely different boat next year
