Hi South Paw. Hope you managed to get some sleep before you headed out! Thanks for posting and the positive comments. Where abouts do you fish in Adelaide?

Haha, yeah, managed about 4hrs lol.
I fish all along the metro coast and around the Port River. Pretty much get all the bread and butter species like gar, squid, KG whiting, Snapper, snook, blue swimmer crabs etc around the Port River chasing Mulloway.

Here's yesterdays haul.

Help needed please

Help needed please

Hi again all. I've not really touched the boat much over the last 2-3 weeks. Been working, doing family stuff and fishing..... Anyway. I am going to try get it all done over the next week so I can get it in the water about a week before Christmas.

So I need to address the Hull Damage. This is how the water has been coming in. I'd really like some advice/tips on how to go about it. I have attached some photo's of the cracks and gelcoat that has fallen exposing the bare glass. On the inside of this rib, under the deck, I have filled it with PB and I have then covered it with two layers of 600GSM Double Bias mat.

The questions I have and advice I need relates to the repair of the rib, or maybe even removal of it.

Do I remove all the old flakey gelcoat and then cover it with some vinyl ester resin/pb and flowcoat over it?
Should I just flaten it out and flowcoat over it?
Should I take the awsome advice that will be forthcoming :>

Help needed!

Help needed!

Hi all, Today I spent about an hour on her removing all the loose gelcoat from the rib pictured in the above post and also going over some of the spider cracks with the dremel. I am still look for advice from those in the know on how to go about the repair of it.

I was thinking of just removing the ribs both sides, but I am guessing this gives a little stability to the boat so I am looking to go the repair/re-coat path.

So I need help on the repair and how to go about it. I have lots of Vinyl Ester resin and flowcoat and I am open to other products like gelcoat etc. On-top of what can be seen in the attached photo's and those in the post above are some smaller chips about the size of 5/10 cent pieces (1/2 inch round).

At this stage I am thinking I start with taping around the repair area's. Then thicken up some flowcoat with cabosil to make it a bit more of a bog consistency so it doesn't sag and can replace the 1-2mm that used to be gelcoat layer. Once I have it to the same height of the tape and it's looking OK, give it a sand back with varying grades of wet and dry to I get it to the tape height. Fill in any low spots with some more flowcoat, re-sand it, then put a final layer of un thickened flowcoat over the top.

These are just my in-experienced thoughts based on some reading and advice from various fiberglass places in my area.

I would greatly appreciate some advice from those in the know here though.

TIA.
