Hi, i am new to the site but have been lurking for a while.

I just purchased an 85 Northstar 16 with a Johnson 90hp VRO. The boat is in mostly original condition and is in need of updating and small project repairs. So far I have updated the trailer so it was safe to tow home and had the VRO pump removed and replaced with a traditional pump for 50:1 premix.

One area that I want to address is the way that the motor is fastened to the transom. On all the boats of this model that I have looked at have had to have the motor mounted high on the transom in a way that the motor does not "hang" on the top of the transom but is mounted about two inches high. When this is done the aluminum transom cap interferes with the motor bolting up tight to the transom. My question is if there are spacers available to properly bolt the motor? See attached pic.

As the project goes I am sure I will have more questions but this is the first in my list.

Thanks,
