baja,

the weather has been great here if i didn't have the throttle control dismantled for the interior i would have tried this weekend at the lake for my first ride in her. I am enjoying the interior rework. I am thinking to carbon fiber vinyl rap above the water line in red because the clear coat is lacking on the top half

A thought on the teak. I just pulled all of mine and replaced it with cedar. Sealed and UV treated it. It looks great and as hard as cedar is it will hopefully hold up well.

I wasn't thinking of changing wood type but after reading a post saying you should tounge oil your teak every yr, the cedar could be a good alternative. Do you have any pics of it and how long have you had it in the boat I am assuming from your post you just changed it recently.

Re: 1984 Cheetah 170 restore

more progress. I had bought a bench seat and 2 arms sections for the rear seat but didnt like the way it looked sitting in the boat it was to tall. Pulled the seat and arm sections apart and cut them down for more of a custom fit. This is the result. Going to add a little extra foam to the side bumpers to fill the space between the arms and side of boat, another 1/2 in of foam should do it. Hopefully have the sundeck done today.

The Bench is nice. With your fabrication skills just wondering why you didn't go ahead and build your own?? I made one for mine and it was not that hard at all. I'm sure you could have done it.

Wood,
I started to build one, actually had the plywood seat built but by the time I bought the foam and vinyl I think I would have saved myself about 50.00 to 100.00. Not to mention the lack of experience with sewing. Even though I think what I have done so far has been a pretty good first try. Now I have a professional made seat with a little personal touch to give it a more custom fit. Oh and thanks for the complement on my skills.

Nice to see another Cheetah Owner here. Good luck with yours I have had a lot of fun with this one and haven't even had it on the water yet. I have had a lot of input from the guys here they can answer about any questions you have. I have posted all my pics in this thread if there is something you want to see spicificlly let me know i will be glad to post more. I have to do some modification to my side cushions to make it look more like a custom fit. I will be posting pics from that as soon as that is done.

The cedar was an off season upgrade. I'll try and upload a few pics in the next day or two.

I still don't know how well it will hold up. You might want to go with a more modern look with your new seating set up. I really like the bow cushions.

I really like the ceder on the little swim platform with the different color looks really cool. I just happen to have been talking to someone at a fence company and they are starting to use cypress more than ceder. Wounder how that would hold up. Thanks on the bow cushions. Your boat and mine look really close to the same from the few pics you have posted here.
