The day is finally here, started spraying the boat today. After sweeping, mopping and hanging the plastic for the paint booth. I used rustoleum marine primer for the primer coat and have the rustoleum marine top coat to do tomorrow. Before I do that though I have to install a 20 amp breaker and outlet because my compressor kept tripping tge breaker. It was a real PITA to have to shut off the compressor and reset the breaker every few minutes. Here is the progress.

Hey that looks real familiar, a nice smooth gray coat. I shot the SE and primer on my SS today too

Man I love paint going on for some reason or another it makes me happy as heck!

Lookin good! I miss having something to do. Once I move its back to playing with stuff. Hard to do when trying to keep the house spotless!

Well, it's too hot to paint again and all I have left to do is the grey stripe. Here's a teaser pic. A few spot where I didn't get a thick enough coat and a few spots where the spray gun seemed to dry out the paint and it stayed dull but hopefully a coat of wax once it's cured will fix that. The bottom strip is scuff sanded and ready for the grey stripe when the temps get down and the black paint is cured enough to mask off.

Thanks Decker and Rob. It was 34 celcius in my back yard and about 50 in the garage today. I'll get up early and shot the grey and probably follow your method Rob and shot the second coat when tacky. I'm getting too impatient to wait any longer.

That would be 94 and 122 for those of you south of the border. We ain't used to those kind of temps up here this early in the year. Thanks goodness the humidity was only 33 percent.

I did have a hiccup though when pulling the tape. I went too quick since I was so excited to see the finished product. I let the tape fall back on the still tacky grey and the paint from the taped pulled off and stuck to the grey. Now I have to let it cure and try to wet sand it off a and repay that spot.

Sorry for the crappy pics but the truck is in the shop so I can't pull the boat outside yet.

That's ok, you don't want to stir up dust on the fresh paint besides it looks super even inside. :thumb:

For that tape incident use a Preval sprayer, you can use the same paint, reducer and hardener for only a few bucks.I used one on my trailer tongue after a mishap, can't even tell... it's like it never happened. ;)

Thanks Rob. I had never heard of a preval sprayer before. Looked it up and that looks perfect for the touch up, cheap to.

Thanks Glen. I think it's time to quit for the day since I just ruined one of my Starcraft decals when I was installing it. One of those days šŸ˜

Looks really nice Rob, I wouldn't worry about that piece of masking tape I'm sure you'll get it fixed so no one will notice, except you of course!!
