Thanks Decker but I think the pictures hide the many imperfections.😉

Anything hand crafted by man has a hand made defect to it mostly visible to the man who made it. To me it only shows that there's craftsmanship in play rather than mass produced robot installed plastic. :thumb:

👍Now that is a great way of looking at it and I totally agree.

Managed to get some vinyl down this weekend even though I had to work. I ended up using contact cement on the gunnels and the Ducan adhesive on the floor and deck. The cc was great on the sides and glad I used the Ducan adhesive on the floor as I had to re adjust a few times. On the rear deck however I wish I had used the cc as I wrapped the vinyl around the edges and it was near impossible to get it to stay tight to the edge, even when stapling on the underside. I think the Ducan stuff is probably the same as the nautolex 88 adhesive from the look of it. Still rolling out some air bubbles that keep forming but seems to be staying in place.

Yeah...lookin' really sharp! It's going to be a fishing machine!

I can't get over how much extra space you made with that modified rear deck/splashwell...great design!

Thanks fellas. I was hoping someone could direct me to where to get the trim for the dash pieces. One of mine is good but the other dash was replaced and the trim was attached with adhesive. Needless to say it didn't come off in one piece. If the trim can't be bought what could I use to replace it?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Rob are you talking about the aluminum pieces that wrap around the lower edge of the dashs? I don't think you will have any luck finding a suppler for it. Check out HomeDepot, they have rack full of aluminum trim, can be hard to find in the store but it's there. You may find something to work You may have to anneal it to get it to bend. Classic Cat has that process down.

This place has a lot of aluminum shapes that might work. Trouble is that while the extrusions are reasonable if you really need something, the shipping is expensive for just one piece. Better if you order a lot of pieces, thinking of other uses on the boat or elsewhere.

iboats also carries some Taco moldings, both aluminum and vinyl, but I am not sure what it is you need. Try a search under Taco.

Thanks Glen, ya I do mean the u channel trim that wraps around the wood dash board. I went and checked HD tonight but they only had 3/4 channel in 1/8 inch, I think that would be too thick to be able to anneal around those curves.

Thanks Ron, they have exactly what I need, unfortunately way too expensive with shipping.

Here's where I get some of my aluminum sheets or trim, they have a store here, 2 in Alberta and other stores in the US.
http://metalsupermarkets.com/store-finder/

Thanks Budski, that is where I bought all of my aluminum. I never noticed if they had anything that would work but I have to go tomorrow so I will have a close look at all of their stock. I usually just route through the scrap bin.

Well metal supermarket was a bust for anything that would work for trim. I did pick up some diamond plate cut offs for the bow and gunnels. I stopped at a metal fabricator around the corner and bought 1/8 inch aluminum sheet from them for my transom skin and it was 80 bucks cheaper than metal super markets do scored there. Also found out they can fab the trim for the dash and the transom but no idea how much that will cost.
I also picked up the last of the plywood I need, 3/8 inch fir for the sides and 5/8 fir fir the front deck.
I managed to paint and install the j trim on the gunnels. I wanted to polish it but they were too beat up with holes in it from where the PO mounted rod holders. I used rustoleum self etching primer and tremclad professional in stainless steel color. It turned out alright but pretty delicate still, when I was riveting the snap of the gun would ding the paint so I will hold off a couple weeks for it to cure.
I also got the rear Pedestals mounted. Grandad was right about the bolts binding I had to keep loosening and tightening until they could get all the way through. Have some nice blisters as a result but got all 12 in and sealed with 4200.
I also installed the vinyl on my consoles, cut new aluminum angle and put them back together. I even managed to save the coast guard plate and re-attach it.
The diamond plate is 5200 to the cooler lid and just waiting to cure up before I pull it out and rivet together. And all the hatch lips have the vinyl glued around them now.
That's it for this weekend. Without further adui the pics.

Nice score the materials, always nice to have something go right! She's coming back together great, way above and beyond anything SC had in mind back in 81' that's for sure :thumb:

Be sure to make sure that bow cap will go on right before that 5200 sets up tight. ;)

Very nice, looks like the same vinyl I picked up at Rona here in Winnipeg, normal price was 13.95 a foot, they gave 21 1/2 feet for 7.33 a foot really scored there but it was the end of the roll and I guess they gave it to me for 1/2 price, I didn't find out till I got to the till so I saved a nice bit of money for a change.
