Getting caught up.... Nice score on the hull. Hellaceous interior but I'm sure your rebuild will be really nice. Unbelievable score on the glasser with a friggin' nicer motor than mine. Congrats. Now I gotta go search threads to see if you sold the little boat or not.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Thanks guys! I am way excited about this Evinrude! It'll push this 16 footer really well!:D:D:D

EZ - Nah man, you got me. Your has T&T, mine don't. So, I need to figure out if I can just buy the T&T assembly...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JOHNSON-EVI..._Accessories_Gear&hash=item460360db8a&vxp=mtr

...and replace the "assist" or go with a CMC Bracket.

Any of you Evinrude OB guys know if this is a direct swap?

For my 70hp engine this was a direct swap.

It sure looks like the right Jason, just make sure it comes with all the wiring and juction box.

Yes should swap. Do as glen said and make sure it comes with everything cuz those relay boxes cost a mint.

I purchased a new non-oem switching relay from a local electronics distributor for $15. Its just a standard switching relay. It has the same ratings as the original, and works great. This was like 5 yrs ago - I could probably get you the part number if you get in a pinch.

I figured they were probably standard relays. However if you put them in a plastic Johnson/Evinrude box, they suddenly become very valuable :p

Jas,

Once again, you destroy something sacred to us glassers...you've got issues...I'm pretty sure you don't need the money or the parts, you just love to post videos of the decimated products of the FG world...some day...some day I'll get around to melting down an aluminum job, just as retribution!

Anyway, I wasn't that far off in suggesting the 300...was I? That V4 is gonna make that little ole' beer can fly...

I like the new project, sleek hull and still basically a Starcraft:)

I'm sure it will have a unique look when you are done, can't wait to see your plans.

The console would probably look ridiculous on that hull so good idea to salvage those nice SS parts. That's how you stay under budget.:)

I'm noticed that EZ made no mention of the 45 gallon tank being ludicrously huge for a 16' rig. He must have missed that part:D

With the wide beam it's probably gonna work out fine, plus you don't have to keep it full all the time.

The only thing I'm confused about is that you walked right into the world of sprayed in foam, willingly?!?

Hope your healing up well, how long till you can cast and reel?

The 40 amp relays for my CMC bracket are available in a non marine version for $3 online. Probably similar.

Destroy? Awwww man, I dunno about that. I think it was just gently pushed over in the corner there kinda. Just tucked away for a little mid day nap. With a book, and hot coco. See, now that was nice:D

Oh yah, I do believe this 90 will give me everything I need, plus some I don't;)

Yup, I am really excited about this hull. Still in the family, a full foot longer and a full foot wider than the Jet, but still small enough to fit where I need it to.

I've been selling stuff I have stripped off of these two boats, I'm hoping to basically have an initial investment of $0 for the boat/engine/trailer in the end. True bottom feeder;)

Yah, the 45 is a monster tank but like you said, I sure don't have to fill it. I know he 90 HP will be burnin fuel like crazy pulling tubes n stuff over the course of a weekend, that's where it'll come in handy I'm sure.

One of the guys had mentioned a concern over weight - my calculations tell me that even at totally full it would only be the equivalent of two skinny guys riding up front there (or one chunky tuna). So, I'm not sweating that at all. Plus getting that up there makes my build process (and decisions) soooo much more straight forward (ie batt placement and such:rolleyes:)

Yah, pour in foam, ugh:facepalm: I put together a video on that, I'll post up in a bit.

Hand is healing up great, thanks buddy!

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

I know you don't have to deal with the harsh environments on metal that I do (salt water) but a quick word of advice before dropping some money into a t&t unit for the motor. Make sure you can remove the pin out of the piston on your motor first. The ole rude that was on the Mariner had a t&t unit that we were going to put on the Sea Nymph's 85 Johnson (transom brackets were exactly the same with the exception of the color). We used lubricants, solvents, torches, etc. and could not get the pin out of it. That motor you scored on, I am quite sure will not be an issue (it's in great shape and never encountered salt water in the old mitt), but I would try it before buying it. When I get the Sea Nymph, going to do the same thing with the Johnson. If it pops out, will look into one for the motor, if not...CMC it is. I will also look in my Mariner Resto-Box and see if I still have the T&T box with relays and the switch still for you. You have a nice set of controls for it, or want a pic of the single lever controller with built in key I pulled off the Mariner?

The video doesn't really do it justice, the sound was ripping though my nice quiet wood lot:cool:

but I would try it before buying it.

Too late, got one on the way:redface:

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Qualifier...

So, in short, pour in expanding foam...

Positives
Excellent Sound Deadening Qualities
Great for Structure
Fills Most of the Voids (if poured correctly)

Negatives
NO DRAINAGE
Expensive
Useless When Satuarated
Possible Corrosion Issues
Added Weight When Soaked

Just one man's opinion:)
