I put a pretty good sound system in mine as well. I was really worried that with all that aluminum all I would hear was metal buzzing. Man was I wrong, it sounds so good on the water.

I’ll be running 2 sets of 6 1/2” infinity 2 way speakers off the old Alpine 4 channel amp. The Kenwood mono amp will be power an Alpine 8” Type R dual voice coil sub and everything controlled by a Kenwood excelon cd head unit.
I like to have background music while fishing and I’m sure it’ll still be loud enough for days at the beach.

I went way overboard with mine, I remembered from my last boat that you need a lot more watts and speakers to get the same sound in a boat and I was worried I would not have enough. I'm running a JL media master head unit, (2) 6.5" JL speakers in the front, (2) 8" JL speakers about half way down each side, (1) 10" JL subs up under the bow in a temp enclosure, and a 700watt 5 channel amp. Its so loud and crisp. I have an extra matching sub that was meant for the front as well but the one hits so hard I'm thinking about using in my truck or something instead. Realistically 4-500 watts probably would have been the perfect match for a boat that size

Did my first splash this weekend. Let’s just say things didn’t quite go as planned. Loaded the dogs and our young adult daughters for a trip up the lake to the beach. We got there and that’s when things happened. Temperature gauge pegged out over 250°. Pulled up on shore let everything cool and fortunately I had enough tools to pull the thermostat cover off. Thermostat was seized shut.

Got that done but unfortunately winds kicked up making it impossible to get far enough out to lower the outdrive. We stayed at the beach hoping the wind would die down enough but no luck. I tried my kicker motor but the waves splashed up and into the cowl causing it to stall out and unable to restart.

Finally after a couple hours we jumped in the water and pushed out far enough to get underway. I have since ordered the new thermostat and a spare water pump belt to avoid any more of these issues…….. for now.

Regardless, its good to get her out on the water I am sure. Motor issues always seem to be the gremlins of the boating world.
