Looks real nice Bud, you must be in the carpet business, by the looks of your carpeting skills.

Thanks Dozer, no I'm not in the carpet business, just takes a lot of glue and patience.

That boat is looking factory fresh. Where will you end up fishing with her. I used to fish in lake Winnipeg as a kid off the docks in Gimli and the Narrows on Lake Manitoba. Great fishing as I recall.

Thanks Sprint, usually to to Kenora area, Lake of the woods or Winnipeg River, sometimes to the White shell or Lake Manitoba Narrows. I checked out your thread you did a great job on your boat and trailer, nice paint job also was it professionally done??. looking to paint mine but having a hard time finding someone to paint it, All Brands boat repair formerally Lund Boats in Steinbach MB will do it but they want a minimum $3500.00 and as much as $6000.00 far to expensive for me, so I guess I'll just have to keep looking.

Re: 1979 Starcraft 18 v5 Restoration re model

After painting the trailer I would have taken a crack at it. In the end I would have spayed the bottom after a really good prep and still taken it in to get the topside done. It was 1500 cash here for the topside including paint, etc. The body shop was Sturgeon Auto body. I was working a lot of ot at the time so working less hours paid for the work than it would have taken me to do it...and it came out better as well.

I've been looking and for some things it might be worthwhile to take a run down to the US to get the work done. In 24 hours you can be in Nevada, hangout in Vegas, stay for 40 a night during the summer at the MGM, get some work done and use the boat on the way back :) Sometimes even though it sounds crazy due to the inflated economy here it might be cheaper in the long run.

Let me know and one of these times I'll take a run out there to do some fishing. The fishing was amazing from what I recall as a kid.

Hey, I'll be doing carpet soon. You look to be the expert. How about a detailed "how to glue in carpet" and any tips you may have. What type of glue you using? Is is water based or solvent based? How are you prepping the aluminum?
